Conspiracy theories are a conspiracy by the government. Every year the government creates hundreds of crackpot theories surrounding any event that is somewhat out of the ordinary, they intentionally cite poor evidence and arguments for these conspiracy theories. The purpose of this is to condition the people to immediately give ridicule to these types theories so that when the government begins on the path to the New World Order, nobody will believe the whistle blowers until it's far too late. Just thought you should know.

That's deliciously ironic, but I'm going to assume that was intended.

What if I told you it wasn't intended? That Jam is a victim of inadvertence?

Conspiracy theorists will believe in anything, because it has nothing to do with the conspiracy theory itself. Their worldview, their entire outlook on life, guarantees that they'll believe in anything that goes along with their view that they are a minority of intelligent, independent, moral people amidst a sea of mindless sheep. Their need to feel inherently superior to others, in other words, because they're definitely not superior because of their actions, accomplishments, or anything that actually matters.

This is the same mentality of most racists, as well as anyone who discriminates against other people for not possessing qualities that they've had since birth (e.g., genetic things like race) or childhood (money, for instance). Inherent superiority because that's the only thing they'll be superior at.

I think conspiracy theorists are just trying to make the world a better place, by evincing the various schemes that govern our daily proceedings, and yet are cunningly hidden by the furtive undertakings of the government.

Btw Dragon, how do you know that what you construe is not within itself an issue of conspiracy?

That makes no sense to me. You'll have to elaborate.

I think unicorns have a higher chance of existing than gods do. I mean, if a mare fell into the ocean and a narwhal raped it, then the mare might just give birth to a unicorn.

Well, it's not like I'm making it up. It's based on experience, and there have been studies about why people believe in conspiracy theories. For example, Ted Goertzel's Belief in Conspiracy Theories study:

Quote:

The strong correlation with the scale of Anomia indicates that Belief in Conspiracies is associated with the feelings of alienation and disaffection from the system. Volkan (1985) suggests that during periods of insecurity and discontent people often feel a need for a tangible enemy on which to externalize their angry feelings. Conspiracy theories may help in this process by providing a tangible enemy to blame for problems which otherwise seem too abstract and impersonal. Conspiracy theories also provide ready answers for unanswered questions and help to resolve contradictions between known "facts" and an individual's belief system. [...]

Conspiratorial beliefs are useful in monological belief systems since they provide an easy, automatic explanation for any new phenomenon which might threaten the belief system. In a monological belief system, each of the beliefs serves as evidence for each of the other beliefs. The more conspiracies a monological thinker believes in, the more likely he or she is to believe in any new conspiracy theory which may be proposed. [...]

Monological conspiracy thinkers do not search for factual evidence to test their theories. Instead, they offer the same hackneyed explanation for every problem - it's the conspiracy of the Jews, the capitalists, the patriarchy, the communists, the medical establishment, or whatever. In these cases, the proof which is offered is not evidence about the specific incident or issue, but the general pattern, e.g., the X conspiracy has been responsible for all of our other problems so it is obvious that they must be responsible for this one as well. [...]

On a more qualitative level, we would predict that monological conspiracy thinkers would be more likely to defend their beliefs about a given case by citing evidence about other cases. They would be less likely to rely on evidence which is available to everyone in public sources, and more likely to depend on untestable suppositions and abstract principles.

Maybe people just believe in conspiracy theories because they've absorbed substantial evidence vindicating them.

It's cause they watch tv and the alpha waves make them believe everything men.
In battle, in the forest, at the precipice in the mountains,
On the dark great sea, in the midst of javelins and arrows,
In sleep, in confusion, in the depths of shame,
The good deeds a man has done before defend him.

conspiracy theories are simply people making sense of things they don't know or don't understand. Nothings bad that they're trying to connect the dots. It's the elitists that yell at non believers that are annoying. I remember one kid called me a sheep because I disagreed we live in a police state. lol

If America is a police state, why are you still in the country? Don't you yearn for freedom? I'm pretty sure if someone in the USSR, East Germany, Cuba, or any other police state, if they were given a chance to leave (you don't need permission to leave the US), they would take it in a heart beat.

People only cherish their notions of freedom because it is kindling. They do not understand the pleasure, society and ambition there is to the eternal, impercipient machine that is the human race.

I said I didn't agree with him that we live in a police state learn to read. Cuba isn't a police state by the way.

All righty, then!

And yes, Cuba is a police state, unless you have a different definition in mind. But I don't want to get into another argument, so agree to disagree!
