If only.. What do you guys think of this speech? I like it but doubt people could coexist like that.

It is overly optimistic. I've said this several times but I believe firmly that human nature is based on conflict. That doesn't mean that humans won't eventually stop basing the way they live on conflict and peacefully coexist. Communism is an experiment in that direction, but it didn't work out well did it?

It's hard to be sure.

Well, what can you expect? We build cities, discover new technologies that enable us to produce weapons, prosper, get bored, and wage wars to cure our idleness.

That's a good point. If you think about it every exciting thing in your life is some kind of conflict. It doesn't mean you can't make yourself happy though.

Pretty sure Hitler would never say that.
In battle, in the forest, at the precipice in the mountains,
On the dark great sea, in the midst of javelins and arrows,
In sleep, in confusion, in the depths of shame,
The good deeds a man has done before defend him.

That was never anything close to communism.

I think unicorns have a higher chance of existing than gods do. I mean, if a mare fell into the ocean and a narwhal raped it, then the mare might just give birth to a unicorn.

Was going to say this

anyway I firmly disagree that humans can't coexist peacefully, the secret lies in education. Imagine a whole generation growing up watching carl sagan and not the news or mtv or hearing about wars and differences in school. Just imagine that, a fresh generation..taught only by humanists like Carl Sagan telling them we're all one species on a journey of discovery. As John Perkins says in his books, in order to escape from this nightmare we have to simply change the dream we all have (cars, money, greedy ambitions) and teach a new dream. The answer is to nurture the new generations to think bigger, better and brighter. Its too late for us all yes, however at least we can ensure our kids live a different life thinking a different way.

I am in agreement with Richard. Education is the key to attaining a resolution to most of our issues.
