I need to know, what do you have to say so far about majoring in philosophy? Do you regret it? Do you worry about not having a job in the future? Any thing you would like to add on top of those answers please do.

Thus far I have no regrets, it's the subject I find most interesting. I've enjoyed every class I've taken in it. I don't really worry about not finding a job for 3 reasons:
1) Philosophy actually equips you pretty well for many parts of life, as it's focus is teaching how to reason.
2) Undergraduate degrees aren't nearly as important as they used to be.
3) I'm considering a career in law, in which philosophy majors have the 3rd highest lsat scores, behind math and physics.

Yeah I read into it and people say the same thing. But I decided to major in PPE (politics, philosophy and economics) mainly because it encompasses all of my interests and will prepare me the best for the widest range of careers.

that's also because only smart (or relatively reasonable at least) people do philosophy. same with math and physics. relatively. i don't think it has all that much to do with philosophy being a good pre to a law studies. which it definitely is though because philosophy is a good pre for all other studies because like you said, it teaches how to reason.

actually, there are some dense people in my Ancient Philosophy (241) class. It's surprising, but true. Also, logical reasoning and constructing arguments is what lawyers kinda do, and that is a part of philosophy, so I'd say they're actually quite related.

Ironically, my school teaches none of those subjects.

Anyway, this thread was certainly an eye-opener for me. For my fifteen years upon this Earth, everybody around me has been discussing their conviction that philosophy is a needless subject - in that there are few careers in which the subject is a necessity.
