1. make a mage 2. buy all the iron ore/leather strips you can from every blacksmith you see 3. smith iron daggers 530+ times 4. enchant each dagger with some bullshit enchant till you hit 100 enchanting. go straight up the enchanting perk tree. 5. enchant a full set of armor with "destruction spells cost X amount less" 6. enjoy free spells with impact perk and rape the game. 7. put all future level up points on health also beat the main campaign before you do any other campaigns (companions, mage guild, etc). it is well worthwhile to do so. |

Frost trolls two hit you if you let them touch you. Destruction fire is best against Trolls. Or running away if you're low level Running away I found, is the best tactic for not dying. |

Meh, the problem with power-leveling is that, if you wanted to do that, then the ideal game for you would be Runescape. The concept of an RPG is that it allows you to do whatever you want in an enormous world with which you can interact; so focus on doing just that. |

I "power level" Enchanting and Smithing by enchanting (and then selling) rings, and crafting leather helmets, but that's only because of the money involved and the fact that I have spare crap laying around, not really for the XP. But Block is the only stat that I really ever truly power level just because it takes so damn long to actually level up legitimately. |

No, kiting is hit and run. Running away is sprinting in the opposite direction without looking back and not even bothering attacking, you're one hope is to get as far away as possible from whatever is attacking you. |

Funny you mention the Frost Troll! Im at 7000 steps now and I am sort of stuck on the troll. I used Dark Elf and went mage. I am a bit off that now though, thinking of starting over with an archer. What is power leveling? |

This is power levelling? Thats gay. Not doing that. Incog running is great. This sabre tooth thing attacked me, I owned him by sprinting away. |

Cause I was playing Dark Elf I have been upping my spark rather than fire. Is that why I am having problems with the frost troll? Btw is there any advantage to using spark instead of fire? |

Shock attacks are best used against mages, since they damage magicka as well as health. Fire does extra damage to enemies due to the burning, but more importantly, trolls (esp. frost trolls) take extra damage from fire attacks. |

yeah I was kinda conveying how easy it is to roll over the game. But anyway I beat the game without doing that and then I did it afterwards to enjoy being OP and killing any opposition to my despotism haha also dark elf + mage is a good choice. for the frost troll this is what I did: 1. Get a companion 2. Walk up the steps and when it appears get its attention then let your companion hit it 2-3 times 3. now that its focused on your meat shield, blast it with fire and drink up mana potions to keep up the attack there really is no other way of effectively fighting against something that strong early game as a mage |

Whats are the hardest skills to develop? I sort of want my charcter to be good at sneaking for 1 hit kills with the bow but the characters that have those skills are more thieves (locking picking and pickpocketing), which I dont really want. Any suggestions? Atm I am thinking of going Wood Elf but is sneak very hard to develop? Edited by Adams, Dec 17 2011, 01:16 AM.

if you're constantly sneaking its a steady pace but you might find it too slow. what you can do is go to the companions place called jorvaskr i think, and go into their sleeping quarters and crawl constantly into the corner while they're sleeping to level it really fast once in a while |

Kneel down, get out your bow, Pop a shot at a Giant, Move Back, Rinse repeat until it chases you. then leg it to a broken house or tower where it's too big to get in, Arrow that mofo! |

nah I understand, but exploits are like staples of the series haha. well like I said anytime you're in a dungeon sneak through all of it, it becomes habit. and when enemies are looking for you but haven't found you yet, if you move around it raises sneak a lot faster. you can tell they're looking for you when the eye is a little bit open and you know you're found when its fully open obviously. so if you see you're noticed but not spotted try to sneak around in a circle or something |

Until you get the magic level and the tome for Storm Atronachs, Frost Atronachs are fine as a melee stopgap. A follower and a frost atronach makes for a hell of a meatshield combo. |

The lack of ability to kite as a melee character really pisses me off. I have the bow leveled pretty good but I haven't put many points into it because I need them for armor and two handed and smithing. |

What're you talking about? I wear full heavy armour and can easily maintain a play style of running in, smacking them with the sword, and retreating before their next attack. It almost reduces the necessity of a shield. If you wear light armour, and dual wield weapons, it'd be much easier, I imagine. |

I agree with this sentiment. It's just more fun to "work" for the skills you get. I do power level smithing with Iron Daggers but not excessively, just enough to be able to upgrade my weapons and armor. As for your sneak problem, I'd just run until you get close to a combat area, then start sneaking. If you can run away when you've dealt your first hit and then start sneaking again once you've gone a fair distance I think you could level up sneaking rather well. Not sure as I have limited experience with sneak. You should get some of the sneak perks, they look really insane, especially the back stabbing ones. I think getting those perks are key to one shooting people with your bow. |

I kite like Muhammad Ali with my melee dude. And I wear the thickest heavy armor. ![]() No seriously, go to the north get the Steed Stone. You move much faster with heavy armor and you can carry so much more shit (personally I find it invaluable). Btw it's an in-game mechanic that backpedaling is much slower than moving forward. So when someone comes at you and starts swinging, I find it best to move off to the side, where your speed isn't as hindered. Works well enough for dodging blows. Then you move forward and power attack, which staggers your opponent, leaving you the time to move away again. I usually have the fast healing spell ready at this point and automatically heal if I take any damage. Works well. Then again I have no experience working with two handed. I much prefer one handed as it's much more versatile, since you can have a shield, a spell or dual wield with the other hand. Btw, power attacks with dual wielding with the right perks and upgraded swords is amazing at deal damage. Fuck high level destruction spells and arrows and poisons and sneak. Nowadays when I'm fighting a dragon I wait for him to land and go to the side and start power whacking at him (with the Etheral Shout ready in case I need to get away). Easily the most efficient way of disposing of a dragon. |
