I think unicorns have a higher chance of existing than gods do. I mean, if a mare fell into the ocean and a narwhal raped it, then the mare might just give birth to a unicorn.

I only got internet back very recently. Uh, 30 minutes ago. Doesn't matter.

What does matter is that I downloaded Morrowind. TES3. I was looking for an nice offline game to play that my laptop might be able to run. Meaning only old games. Skyrim and Oblivion were enjoyable enough so I figured maybe Morrowind would also be fun.

Well fuck, it's mind blowing. It isn't as good as Skyrim or Oblivion. It's WAY better!

Morrowind completely demolishes both other games in almost every aspect except for graphics. The graphics are terrible compared to Oblivion however I suppose that they're pretty good considering when the game came out. The UI is also that of an old game, but you get used to it. Graphics as well.

But WOW. Ok first off, combat is much more interesting. You don't just click and hit someone with something. There are 3 different types of attack. Your attacks depend on how you're moving when you attack. You have chop, which is the default attack when you're standing still. You have slash, which is the attack you do when you're moving sideways, and you have thrust, which is when you're moving forward and backwards.

Now you also have different weapon types. Longsword, Shortsword, Blunt and spear. But even then there are different sub-weapons. Different weapon types work with different kinds of attack. Swords work best chopping or slashing, blunt weapons (maces, clubs, hammers, etc) work only with chop. Spears and Halberds work well only with Thrust attacks, but they have superb range for a melee weapon. Spears work with two hands only though so you don't get a shield. Spears are by far the hardest melee weapon to use. I have one with me for fun but it's really, really hard to fight with.

When I say swords work best chopping or slashing, it isn't really true. For example, shortswords and broadswords do equal damage regardless of what attack you're using. Actual longswords do little damage chopping compared to their slash and thrust damage. But then you also have Katanas (also a longsword) which are quite strong with Chop and Slash but not as well in Thrust.

Different weapons actually serve different fighting styles. For example a Katana would be stronger in a enclosed space because you lack the mobility to use Thrust attacks, but a longsword is very efficient at stabbing opponents just out of reach, quite efficient for outdoor fights.

Higher tier weapons are also better. I found a Silver Nordic longsword and was really happy because it's better than both Katana and steel longsword in all kinds of attacks.

Basically combat is harder in Morrowind than in the other games.

Also interesting is that Magicka only regenerates when you rest. I haven't tried playing a mage but it must be really, really hard to do. For example, I only have enough magicka for two heals and that's it. Nothing more. As if that wasn't enough, the crazy thing is that your spells can fail. Sometimes you need to heal and BAm, no heal. you waste magicka for it though.

that's why scrolls are so fucking valuable in MW compared to in the other games. scrolls don't fail. that's why they're so good and actually useful.

you also have more interesting spells. the best scrolls in the game are imo, divine/almsivi intervention ones. they instantly teleport you to the nearest temple. it is SO good for escaping bad situations! SO good. not to mention you gain time from walking, because there is no fast travel in MW. you can pay for transport though. but no fast travel alone. but interventions are best saved for bad situations, transport is pretty cheap tbh.

which leads me to actually walking around outside of cities. the thing is that walking actually consumes fatigue. so if you've been walking awhile and you're out of fatigue and you get ambushed, you're fucking dead. it's best to walk around and keep an eye out for danger. if you see it, wait for fatigue to regenerate, then go for it. or have restore fatigue potions. ;/ you NEED fatigue to fight, both with weapons and spells.

armor is also x10 more diverse. you don't have 4 pieces like in skyrim. you have cuirass, boots, greaves, helmet, and two pauldrons (shoulder armor) and two bracers. which means sometimes you're walking around with one arm completely covered and the other one naked. -_- :p i have yet to find shit to enchant but i can't wait to. you also have light, heavy and medium armor. with 3 different skill sets to go with it. o_O

even the politics are complicated in the game. it's not just fighter/mage/thieves/assassin guilds. it's fighters/mages/thieves/imperial/darkbrotherhood(who's after me for some reason lolwat)/redoran/hlaaluu/telvanni/east empire trade and probably other factions that i don't even know about.

So much work :p

the telvanni/redoran are arguably more racist than the stormcloacks. they don't like outlanders and are known for it. and they condone slavery. q_q

yes, there's slavery in the game. apparently you get a quest after you've freed a certain amount. but yeah slavery seriously. only argonian/khajit too. -_-

wtf lol. anyway there's still shit i have discover.

yesterday for example i found out there was a crazy island to the north with nords, beserkers (think naked people running around wanted to kill you with insane weapons or just barefisted) and ricklings.

ricklings? what are they? just download the game and see. xD
