whoever doesn't like the game can give it to me

i didn't buy it yet

soon i'm going to be getting an asus gaming laptop, i'll do this game as well as bio shock infinite, crysis 2 & 3, far cry 3 and perhaps skyrim with high resolution textures. etc

and il-2 cliffs of dover

i feel so bad

it's the only game on steam i've ever bought up till now. was so excited because it had the reputation to be a very hardcore sim which is my kind of thing (war thunder is a bit softer but it's still pretty good minus a few glaring issues).

my computer can't even run it at lowest settings. well, it can but the fps are something like... 15? unplayable
I'm wondering if I should invest in a gaming laptop or a desktop.
the problem with a gaming laptop is overheating.. my laptop's video card has 2gig of vram or whatever but if i ever use it to its near-potential it eventually shuts off. i still prefer it over desktops for mobility and shit but fuck if playing new games is your priority get a desktop

this

don't do it adams. a gaming laptop will last you 2 years tops, has a tiny screen and costs about 20% more for the same specs.
Yeah I noticed they were expensive. Just a gimmick then? Might get a desktop if I get my own apartment eventually.

Actually I found this, much better for same price (bc I have to pay $90 shipping instead $200 in local sales tax)

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/#load
go to load configuration and code is 1FE0FQ

The graphics card is a little bit lower, but really it's good enough.

ok i searched just a bit more just to compare laptop performance with desktop, you know, to be safe. the graphics chip on the asus laptop just doesn't compare with desktop video cards

gs are you satisfied with your current desktop set up? in terms of power and such? how much did it cost you?

is the ssd really worth it? for 60€ you get 1 Tb on a classic hard drive and for 70€ you get 60 Gb for an ssd drive. the price difference is ridiculous

why i7 btw? do you use the extra power it giveS? after some research it seems anyone who builds gaming pc flames the shit out of the i7

been thinking a bit and after some research i'm thinking of a build along these lines:

i5 processor. don't want something too expensive for power i'm not going to use

HD 7950 gfx card; apparently it's super cost efficient: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+7950&id=325

but i might opt for GTX 600 Ti instead

normal hard drive. unless someone convinces me that an SSD is somehow REALLY worth it, i'm not going to buy something that expensive

not sure about motherboard and power, what should i be looking for?

I had a 7950 aslong as you don't buy the XFX version it should be good.
Need to RMA my XFX 7950...

The SSD is only for the OS in most cases, you don't necessarily need it.

it's not a gaming pc, i just want it to be fast. i did get 2 video cards 1 of which hasn't worked from the start but i've been too lazy to do anything about it plus i can still max everything anyway. it cost me 1000€ but iirc that includes the 200€ screen, and that was a year ago so it'll be alot cheaper now

the ssd is very worth it. obviously get a normal HD next to it, and get like 128gb ssd. put your windows and some games you play often on ssd, use the other one for mass storage. works like a charm. really, you underestimate the convenience of a pc that boots in 10 seconds and reboots in 15... plus the games you put on the ssd load way faster

SO expensive though

if it's only for booting and game loading times, i'll pass. i know it's really good, but i won't get one because if i do i'll get addicted to it

i'll buy more expensive computer parts when i start working

as of now i worked out a build at ~800$ which is idk how many euros, depends on prices in France

can't really say, i'm not up to date on current hardware prices. though if you wanna be cost effective i don't agree with nvidia. HD 7950 is probably the best choice.

Don't forget to change to France unless your importing from the US and pay the ~20% VAT.

Also the PSU is one of the most important parts of your PC, don't skimp, and if you plan to upgrade parts later, you may have to get a bigger PSU anyways.

Also does all that stuff run on 450W?

i looked up 660 ti vs 7950

most sources seemed to indicate that overall 660 ti was slightly better. the difference in price is also slight. i'm buying my stuff from amazon:

7950 lowest i can find is 209€:

http://www.amazon.fr/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85Z%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=radeon%20hd%207950&sprefix=Radeon+%2Ccomputers%2C165&rh=i%3Acomputers%2Ck%3Aradeon%20hd%207950

for the card i'm buying i'm at 226€

processor is so expensive that i want to save money on it but i'm not sure what to look for tbh

yeh ichi i got ya covered dw

as for PSU, the site says that i'll use approximately 326W, so using 430W PSU seems to be ok?

anyway i used a different one because i couldn't find anything else in France; new slightly modified build is this:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1BNca

amazon gives me this: http://i.imgur.com/6IEuos4.png

682€ for the whole deal. i already have a 500 GB hard drive

Doesn't the XFX version just have 2 fans instead of one and very slight overclocking?

8.6 inches long for the card and the case measures 16.53" x 6.88" x 13.97" inches so it should be fine
