I have absolutely no doubt of MTW's quality. The thing is that people these days are getting into online gaming more and more, however they're going to be focused on the new titles (btw typing this I accidentally spelled "tittles" and apparently it's a word) and not the old gold, so to say. So you need the game devs to make the new games to appeal to the new masses that are growing more and more. You need smart game devs to look at old games and realize what made them so good. The "problem" is that game devs today are looking at MOBAs are seeing a success wagon. They're all hopping on board and there are little high quality RTS being developed. So while we could have these amazing games to play such as MTW, AoC, Aoe3, etc, with game lobbies full of players sharing the same passion, we have AoE3 which starting to die for real (apparently) and we have MTW which is truly dead. There's so much potential in RTS it's not even funny. But game devs look at the stats and see that making MOBAs or RPGs is more profitable (or AAA titles like watch dogs and shit like that, which doesn't look interesting at all??) and the RTS as a genre is being put on hold. The old games may be of great quality, I would love to go back to Aoe3's fanpatch, but if no one plays the greatest game in the world then, well, you get the idea. I'm talking multiplayer since there are lots of good campaign oriented RTS out there, as Ichi and ultra like to tell us. It is my opinion that the future of the RTS genre will be supported by its community though. But seriously though look at this retarded shit: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/05/06/us-activision-destiny-idUSBREA4501F20140506$500 million to develop ONE game. Holy shit I can't imagine the resources behind that. You give the RTS community 5% of those resources and you can make at least 3 AAA quality RTS. It drives me nuts. yeah, it's frustrating as fuck to be in a minority when it comes to stuff like this because your needs are just not important to the people who are actually making the games.

To be fair, though, destiny looks like it's going to be awesome.

So the top player in 0 AD atm is borg. He told me he used to play aoe3 and I checked his stats, the guy was 46 in 2008 (when all the big names played).
He crushes me every game. I feel like I'm playing gs again.

hey gs, I sent a PM to one of the guys who's looking at 0 AD's redesign. They're thinking of some cool shit:

So I'm guessing that, for example, cavalry rushing into wall of pikes will get slaughtered, however cavalry rushing into infantry formations of archers or swordsman might do a lot of damage ? Stuff like that, no?
Yep. Just like that! :) Also, Spear Cav would be better for timed charges and trampling, while Sword Cav would be more like a raider chasing down fleeing enemy units or anti-cav cav. - Quote:

I've been wondering if spearcav and spear infantry will get pierce attacks, whereas swordcav and swordsman get hack attacks for example? Will you guys also be playing around with those stats? e.g. spear infantry might have pierce armor but perhaps not high hack armor, which gives swordsmen an inherit advantage when fighting spear infantry? Something like that? Can you give units armed with spears a range of 2 or so meters, to model the fact that they're armed with long reaching weapons?
We originally had spear units dealing pierce damage, but it only served to hinder balance and muddled the waters too much. Much better to think of 'Hack' damage representing "Melee" damage instead. We would like to have spear units, particularly pike units, have a range effect like you mention. Perhaps a way to "pin" enemy units briefly before those enemy units can make their way past the pikes to attack the pikemen directly.
