Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and hoping that some of you might be able to help me? I have a 1996 ae111 levin, 20v blacktop engine. The timing belt snapped and the engine was getting a bit smokey before that so I decided to pull it out and do a full rebuild. The engine is now rebuilt and back in the car, all connected up and filled with fluids. But it won't start, it turns over but no spark. I have checked all the sensors according to the manual and checked continuity back to the ECU and everything appears to be fine. And it ran perfectly before I took the engine out. I can get a spark if I give the igniter a signal manually. So it is looking like it could be the ECU? Could the air conditioning circuit prevent it from starting? I had planned to remove and took all the components out before I put the engine back in. When it wouldn't start I put everything back in but it didn't make any difference. My next plan is to try and get hold of a different ECU and try it. Does anyone have any other ideas before I go buying an ECU? Thanks, Robin |
