So...just how costly is it when the SuperStrut gives up the ghost and you have to replace it? Think mine is on it's way out as it's knocking and creaking but it's not pulling to one side yet... Tell tale sign though apparently. Can Toyota order in the parts? |

Hmm... Whats the difference between a regular macpherson strut, and a superstrut? Mines not a super strut... All I know is you'd probably be better off looking at aftermarket coilovers instead of replacing the stock units with brand new toyota ones? |

Well I thought it was normal, but from what I've read the creaks and clunks I'm getting are a sign that the SuperStrut is almost finished. Having 17's is meant to play a big part in knackering them out quickly. Looks like a bloody costly fix though. :( Hopefully they're not too bad, I mean it drives okay. The only reason I had to whack the stereo in was because the noises were worrying me. |

SSS seems to have a life of about 60k-80k miles. then u get the usual creaks and knocks. aint heard about the pulling though. ive got exploded views of the suspension setups on the ae111. i'll try post them later |

So mine is pretty much going/about to go then, and at the right time too. Bugger. :( I've seen those pictures somewhere, the exploded view. Couldn't find them again though, if you find them, add them to the thread I've pinned at the top of this sub-forum. Thanks mate!

Im starting to get the creaks and knocks too but only when the car is cold. 17" alloys are a death sentence for SuperStrut |

How long do you think is left in them once the creaking starts? Couple thousand KM? I think I'm gonna go for a nice set of 15's after the SS dies completely. |

60KG lighter would included the suspension and smaller brakes too. I find it ver hard to belive that the 6 speed box is that heavier then the 5 speed |

Pre-97 / Pre-Facelift BZ-G Superstrut are the only ones with the SS while Post-97 / Facelift BZ-R are the only ones with SS... Are you talking about the Ballpoint Joint? |

17" wheels are a death sentence to superstrut, I switched to 16" last yr, then changed entire superstrut including shocks (unfortunately all i could have gotten was used from a scrapped front cut). Superstrut are pricey used, much less new if u can locate them. I put in a new set of Arospeed 17" as a new yr present, unfortunately all i could have gotten is 40 series tyres, dammit. But peeps, the squeeky noises are simply signs of wear and tear on the rubber in the bushings. The tell tale sign of sss near death is the pull, especially at high speed when braking & gearing down. In my opinion the safest bet is to change over your entire front to the regular ae111 suspension, which most bzg comes with. It handles and corners as good as the sss. Plus it's alot cheaper than d sss & easily accessible. |

^^ how easy is it to change to normal non superstrut sussy!? I would consider just changing back to standard non ss and just get coilovers. |
