Hello. I tried to do a search on this subject, but it looks like the search is turned off. I also looked at the pinned thread at the top and saw this link to a Levin book: http://www.japaneseautospares.co.uk/owners...oyota.htm#levin Do you think that book would have information about the C-160 transmission. I am in the US and have a 20v Blacktop with a C-160 from Japan transplanted into the back of my 1986 MR2. Over a year ago the transmission started making a grinding noise and I think some thing is wrong with the diff (it is not LSD). I would need to take the transmission apart to repair and I want to make sure that I get everything back the way it should go, hence why I need the book. My intro post is here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/AE111_Forum/in...p?showtopic=796 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

havent seen one online, all c series gearboxs are alot the same, you can use a c52 diff if thats the problem, but Id say your issue might be the crown an pinion stripping itself... was it under load at the time? |

I got the transmission cracked open and I was able to see some damage to the diff, then once I got it all apart....well, look for yourself
What to do next...I dunno yet. |

mmm the weak crown an pinion strikes again.... to replace the parts it costs alot, you could use an aftermarket crown an pinion thats been made for a 2zz, or find a c56 5speed, gutted no lsd  |
