Bend at the end of exhaust?

most of the ae111's here have a cannister type exhaust pan...[strictly cylindrical]...and it's not welded straight onto the pipe...its at an angle to the pipe...sometimes left, or right, or up. never down though. i don't know if its style or there's a reason for this....
can someone enlighten me?

it's on an angle so the exhaust pipe before it is as straight as possible... lesser bends
it's angled up so it could use a bit of help from underbody air flow for scavenging effect ... since air from under the car flows upwards as soon as it exits the rear bumper...

i can understand the less bends part...
but the fact that air flows up...and angling the muffler up....wouldn't the effect be ridiculously minute?
LOL
yes you're right
ridiculously minute
its like rolled exhaust tip...

a lot of DTM touring cars have their exhaust angled up like that... for the same reason i believe...?

apexi claimed to have taken the initiative to make the angle up exhaust, which is the N1 exhaust... and yes they did say its for air flow reason back then..

RE Amemiya makes exhaust which angles down.. but that's for rx7... probably made that way so that the rear bumper doesnt get dirty

lmao...or so the bumper doesn't ignite :rotfl:

you know those rx7's have fire shooting issues
LOL...
yeah eh.. they do.....
u'll have the same issue if you've got a decat and aftermarket ecu with retarded timing + increased injector duty cycle on 0% throttle tho...

yeah...20V has a nasty habit of running rich w/o the decat....
i still have yet to solve that...
but then again maybe the boom boom's have grown on me.

all in due time though
