I have the same problem when im downshifting out on track, nearly put me in the gravel a couple of times :( .
Even when someone else is driving my car they'll have trouble with second. Mines a 6 speed though! Changing the oil didnt make much of a difference either.

i think i have the same problem... sometimes on an upshift, especially when cold, my 5 spd gives a little jerk and pop goin into 2nd gear, this doesnt happen all the time but would happen more when shifting up at the redline, from what ive heard off other lads with 111's, its fairly common.. something to do with the synchro or something im not well up with gearboxes at all though..

happens occasionally with my 5 speed
i have to shove it into first with the clutch depressed and then back to 2nd to have it engage

aka Hyper Rev 4...
maybe you should of prep the car before going to the track, like oil changes and stuff, at least you know it's fresh and know what you put in it...

but then again it could be something to do with the gears inside... :idk:

change your gearbox oil and clutch fluid
inspect and change your engine mount if there is any cracks...
that should solve your problems

will be 2nd synchro getting the box done will be costly but if you do... replace at least 2nd and 3rd gear sync
When your all sorted make sure you use a good oil....
Try and rev match as much as possible when shifting synchros will last longer

you racing on the track? the 5 speed is better but if you are going to do any mods well go for the 5 speed, the 6 speed can only take pressure to a stock level, anything above that it will fail. and for the second gear not going in just change your oil and try using redline symantic or castrol symantic oil and that should solve your problem

ah i'm lost don't no what to do cause i had my 20valve corolla for 2 years never gave me a problem like think i'll stick with the 6 speed and do a few bits to it see if that sorts it and if it don't i'll stick the 5 speed in it

sorry dude but when you said track did you mean circuit or drag?if it is drag well yes 6 speed are failure to drag, the 5 speed would stand a better chance.
