I noticed the other day while driving my car hard the gears gradually become harder and harder to change,at normal speeds nothing in excess of 4k its fine smooth changes no problems As soon as i start hitting the 7k and above it feels like the gears are sticking and are hard to slot in to the next gear sometimes even grinding and not going in at all... Any ideas on what could be causing this...i've added in prolong gearbox treatment aswel would this have caused the problem?? Gearbox oil is relativly new prob done around 20k km's |

i experience the same problem as you even at lower revs 2-4k, probably needs a gearbox fluid change |

change your gearbox oil, Most of that gearbox additive dosnt run to well in gearbox's ends up thickening the fluid making gear changing harder |

key an eye on it, mine was like that then gradually got worse to crunching in lower revs then all the time in certain gears had to get gearbox re-conditioned. |

Yes, good quality oil will make smoother changes. Old or cheap oil with bad properties won't provide adequate lubrication and makes for rough changes. |

I recently changed my clutch and had to reuse my gearoil because all shops were closed and I needed to drive that night. Few questions 1. If Gear Oil is bad will it be thin like engine oil is when it needs to be changed? My oil was thick and did not drain like water but more like runny syrup. 2. Do you usually find metal grinds in the gear oil? I found none. The car currently has almost 109000km on the clock. When I got it last year September from Japan it had 82000km on it. How often shoul dI change and what is the best oil. I live in St. Kitts (Caribbean) and it is hot and I drive AE111 Carib 6 Speed no LSD. |

started this issue a while ago since then been thru a gearbox, numerous oil changes but its still the same I've read through a DIY article posted to replace the bushes for the shifter cable as far as I can work out its the only thing left to change...problem is theres a metal cable which joins the selector with the box, before doing the bearing change I'd like to find out...what's the possibility of the metal cable stretching, is it possible that the bushes are just worn and cable replacement is due to Toyota not supplying bushes so you have no choice? |
