I am happy to announce that solid fab has completed its first ae111 4age exhaust manifold. it was completed in the early hours of friday night. 1st impressions is that it fits exceptionally well. no rubbing or clearance issues. fitting it is a tricky affair though. the test vehicle was me own ae111, pretty much standard except a decat, cat back exhaust and an induction kit. so hopefully everyones gains will be similar as most people have near stock cars. 1st drive impressions. throttle response is alot crisper, the exhaust pulses is smoother and a slightly higher exhaust note. below 3k, the manifold seems to have lost a little bit of torque, but that was expected with the 4-1 design, but as soon as you hit 3.2k-3.5k, the manifold hits its sweet spot, and just races to the redline. with the OEM manifold, as you near 6.5-7k, the rpm starts to slow and it feels like the car is choking. but with the new solid fab manifold, the car just doesnt slow. the rpm gets faster and faster, and the engine sings a completely different note. one thats intune. as of now, im guessing a 10hp gain peak and about 5-8hp gain across the board. but thats what my butt dyno tells me. i will be putting 2500 spirited miles on it in 2 weeks, so that should give us an insight into its reliability. but i foresee no problems. when i come back from my road trip. the manifold/car will be put on the dyno and tested to see how much power it makes. expect to see the dyno test in 3-4 weeks time. in the meantime, start saving your pounds/euro/dollars, and expect to see it to hit the market in less than a months time. to wet your appetite, heres some pics of the final design. ![]() ![]()

looking good, whats the exit pipe size? also for some having no flexi could be an issue? can easily add one after the header if needed though |

they never put up a dyno sheet but it lost about 5 bhp down low and gained about 5 up top. |

I've pm'd import_trung - I'm very keen to have the full system fitted to my LEvin for racing this year. Not heard back yet, but when I do I'll let you know what it's like - also I'll put up power before and after.... This looks like a sweet system - should really help the 20v with trumpets breath! So - after a nightmare journey through traffic in South London - I got to Solid Fabs and met Alan on Saturday. Really nice guy and obviously knows his stuff. I'm having the full system - manifold, decat and stright through system - as the car will be for track and racing. It should all be done by this time next week(ish) so really looking forward to it. Will post up pics and stuff once it's back.... Kai |

You'll have to ask Alan for a quote, but I think the manifold is £450 (it is a piece of art!!) and I know decats are about £50 - there's a few members here who have had the decats...... Kai |

question did you get the hign pressure release spring for the oil pump, to have high pressure at high revs |

Hi Parrot - not sure I understand the question - is it related to the exhaust system? Kai |

nope in the engine there is a pressure release valve. there is higher rated spring that keeps the oil pressure high as revs rise if the car is being raced i recommend that. http://www.nengun.com/hks/4a-g-parts this is what im talking about |

Hi all, Quick update from me - picked up the car from Alan at Solid Fabs. The exhaust looks fab and sounds awesome - more importantly, it is definitely making more power up top. I really couldn't feel a loss lower down, but from 5000 - 8000rpm, it really flies. Pops on the overun are also a bonus. As my Levin is just for track and racing, we measured at around 5300rpm and the noise is around 98dB but need to get that verified. Will get some picks and maybe a noise clip up when I can. Just need to get the fog light working by tomorrow for it's MOT, then it's off to be caged!! Kai and McLevin |

Yes, I changed the design completely. Instead of a 4-1 (more peak power) I went for a TRI-Y design. |

making that s14 exhaust today was fun. to make the ae111 manifold, if anyone is interested in one, i can lend my car to make it as alan cannot make it on a conventional jig. |

haha the s14 exhaust is awesome suppose it has a actuator to flip it between going out the back and out the side? that side pipe needs to be a seperate screamer pipe from wastegate the ae111 headers are looking nice! have you had a chance to dyno them yet? the dimensions of primaries + secondaries looks almost exactly the same as mine so hope it works well! lol. just one question, why have you collected the primary pipes 1-2, 3-4? are you going for all out high revs pull? i always thought they collected 1-4, 2-3 due to the firing order 1-3-4-2 it would aid the scavenging effect and increase torque across the range? |
