Interior Stripping and Carpets

Hey guys,

Looking at stripping my interior to get at the sound deadening, seeing as it's the middle of winter and therefore probably as opportune a time as any to try and get the sound deadening off while it's still helpfully naturally cold. I'm not looking for a completely stripped look however, so I want the carpet kept in there and figure I may as well give it a good cleaning while I'm at it.

Any tips on car carpet cleaning, and any tips on stripping the interior? Anything I should know about while I'm at it?

use a heat gun to strip the sound deadening and then diesel fuel to clean the excess waste....

dry ice is the easiest ways to get rid of sound deadening
cleaning the carpet, you can hire one of those carpet cleaners from the supermarket, they get rid of all the crap and you can use it on the house carpet as well

Hi, just curious to know why you are stripping out the sound deadening and keeping all the carpets in??

I'll keep the carpets in for comfort, as I don't think my girlfriend will be too happy with a fully stripped interior even if she does enjoy and understand my driving urges!

Cheers for the replies, I was hoping to have a crack at it very early one morning, with dry ice as a back up. Sounds like I might have to use combination of early morning, dry ice and diesel/solvent to get it off :)

you shouldn't need diesel solvent with dry ice, diesel solvent is used to wipe off any small left over bits when using the heat gun
