Hey guys, Is it possible to modify the 5spd by changing the ratio's on the 5th gear? I hate going along the motorway at 4k all the time, if i could get a 6spd then i would go down that route, was just wondering if its possible to change the 5th gear to a higher ratio and leave the rest? Cheers, Scott |

3k is about 100kph in my car, when the speedo is on 130kph or 80mph its at 4k which is about the speed i go on the motorway. |

Issue is that if you change your ratios, you may stretch it too far and being a small 1.6L engine, you'll have trouble accelerating... |

Yeah its not the final drive i would want to change just the 5 gear ratio, so would accelerate normally and just rev real low in 5th, don't even know if its possible just wondered. |

I "think" its still possible to purchase for the C56 GBox a close ratio set but not a wide ratio lol =P But you could ask a transmission specialist like PPG or Pfinzer, somebody along those lines but you've gotta have $$$ |

Mmm cool, the c153 is the gt turbo starlet so hopefully there will be one lying around in the uk. I notice the ratio is the same as the 6th gear in the c160 box, could the 6th gear be used to replace my 5th gear? Also what rpm is the engine doing at say 130kph/80mph in the 6th gear on a bzr etc? I know the final drive is slighty different on the six speed. Is the higher number the faster it will accelerate? Cheers for all your advice so far. Scott |
