Hi, I've got an '86 MR2 with a 20v 4age from an AE111 swapped in. A few weeks ago, a rod bolt failure resulted in a connecting rod exiting the side of the block. I had to throw a new engine in it, and the new engine I bought came with an automatic transmission. I, of course, put a proper C56 on it and put it back in the car, but that leaves me with a perfectly good automatic gearbox I have no use for. I'd like to sell it, but I can't seem to find which model transmission it is, and what it's compatible with- all the resources simply say the AE111 came with "a choice of manual or automatic", which is the exact opposite of helpful. There's nothing on the transmission that I could find which tells me what exactly it is. Do any of you happen to know which automatic transmission was sold with the 4age in the AE111? I'd appreciate any help! |

check on toyodiy should give you a part number for the box. side note... prob wasn't a bolt failure that bust the rod... the rod prob just broke, would recommend upgrading the rods in your new engine to prevent it happening again |

That site yielded results. Thanks! It looks like it's the A245E trans. Gear ratios are: 3.643:1 2.008:1 1.296:1 0.892:1 Reverse: 2.977:1, and the final drive should be 2.821 if it's a < '96, and 2.655 if it's '97 on. I have no way of knowing the year, but that should be good enough. |
