lads iv been told by many to keep my levin air flow system as it is as yous wil no the air filter comes from the right side jus at the front headlight and up to our indo throttle bodies anyone have any good suggestions was thinking of getting better cold feed from the front fender and leaving air box standard jus dont want to be getting an air intake tat be sucking in hot air maybe anyone have a drop in air filter. wil any of these actions increase my bhp

panel filter won't do a thing, induction will do very little.

apexi panel filter and induction give pretty much the same results actually, but ur best bet is 2 get an arc air chamber, ther 260euro i think!!!! dont really c the point in wastin a few hundred quid on these things tho, results will never be great, ifu want more power save up for some cams, pistons ect!!!! thats wer the real gains are!!!!

i've recently saw a photo of another AE111 with standard air filter box and done some modifications to the bottom half of the box (inside the front left fender) their is a resinator box just underneath the air filter box and what they done was cut the front side of the box out so cold air goes into the box directly...
it's the cheapest and most efficent way of get cold air and just change the panel filter to an aftermarket one...
i'll post up the photo later on tonight when i find it...

keen to see these pics

i think cutting a hole in the resinator is the cheapest way to get cold air.... since that area is where the fog light is too so you can remove the fog light to get even more cold air....

good plan but fog lights look really nice i think , couldnt take off da fogs it would brake my heart
a inlet pipe could be put in from da grill in the center of the bumber and fet up into the front of the cars own intake just to booste air flow
i had this done on my little saxo and just put old tights folded over a few times over the end then to prevent stonesand dirt gettin in

you sure thats not an AE101 only box, i sure as hell don't have that resonator.

you mean you don't have the exact resonator or don't have one at all...
it'll be the same concept whether it's a 101 or a 111.... all cars have a resonator somewhere for the intake since resonators are usually to maintain torque... and cold air....
then fender pattern is from a 111...

there is nothing down in the fender, no part of my induction goes that near to the fender shown in the picture.
from plenum there is the induction pipe, to the airbox then a pathetically strangled air feed to behind the indicator, nothing else. wouldn't go cutting sections from the lower half of the air box as that would make the whole 'hot air' situation your trying to improve, worse.
a resonator is for noise supression more than anything.

i removed my one ages ago.... and through it in the bin... so... nop...
but keen to see yours...

hey devo, if you are looking/facing at the engine bay, then look at the part where you said the air is going into the air box behind the right head light... just feel you fingers where that pipe is going towards the big rectangle air box, and you should be able to find another hole going in/under the fender...
there are actually 2 holes for the air box, 1 behind the head light and the other from the guard, which is a resignator.... hope you know what i am trying to say and describe... :o

ok... this is where the resonator should be, but i have removed it.... you can see a hole just above and next to where the wire is loose... there was a box around that area... and you can see a bit of the plastic pipe going to the air filter box...

have to say. dont know the difference in the air box's are. but min is just a box. 1 hole in and 1 hole out. no resenance chanbers, no extra hidden hole leading to other places. not larger boxes that can be cut to allow bigger openings. when i took it out the whole thing was about 12x12x12 inc.and thats about it. (size rought idea)
so were there different boxes available in the cars?
