Hi Guys, I picked my levin up from the ports today and i am afraid to say i have some problems that were not there 2 weeks ago. the cars has the management light on and is letting out lots of dark smoke with a strong smell of fuel. However the car does have a safc but i cant see anyone messing around with that. When i rev the car it sounds and feels like it is missing.. Can anyone help as i need to get the car on the road to register. Any information / Help will be appreciated Thanks Zee 07882 980523
I had the car imported |

Could be a number of problems, get it checked by a qualified mech. Could be O2 sensor, distributor, could be incorrectly setup SAFC.... |

the safc is supposedly pointless on the blacktop anyway, ecu begins to ignore the signals after about a day apparently. don't hold me to that, just from other peoples experiences. |

how black is black ? check the oil. the head might be going or gone. so it would be burning oil then. |

undo the batt this will clear the engine diag codes, then put it back on and start it see what happens, and bridge T1 and TE1 then count the flashes of your engine light this will give you a trouble code you can then match it up with the problem that the ecu is upset about. (will find more info on google about toyota ecu fualt codes) It could be the fuel in the tank has gone off, and the dizzy timming is causing knock so its fueling it up, or injectors are playing up, the 02 is also another but it shouldnt be that black. Has the engine been fully warmed up an run for abit since import? |

Rumour has it that these dont work in Levins. Well they do for a week or 2 then the ECU cops onto it and ignores it! |

used a safc for awhile, adjustments didnt do much, Just put an RSM in coz I got it cheap, if your wanting something for tunning go greedy piggyback, for visual get an RSM or something |

Needs to Try Harder
|
If you just want to derestrict he 180 limiter then get an HKS SLD, very cheap and fairly easy to fit...you don't need an AFC!! If you want some basic engine data along with the de limiter then get an RSM or an Informeter even a Pivot Speed meter like below will do... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...:MEWA:IT&ih=003
Have you actually fitted the e manage system, yet? Did you get the optional ignition/injector harnesses or go for the whole harness/field coupler..? Was it easy to map... |

Yes....... i get the full set of harness.......... including the injector harness........ to be honest, it's not easy though...... but once u can understand the diagram of it......u could do it....... just that after that.......u must send ur car for DYNO tuning!! |

aka Hyper Rev 4...
|
afc is air fuel controller... so that's its purpose..... it only works if you tune it correctly (by a tuner who actually knows a lot about these and knows how to do it)... if it's not tuned correctly it can cause harm to your engine... someone in this forum did have it on his car when he brought his car and the car runs very rough (beacuse it wasn't tune properly and no one knows how to do it in his town) and when he removed it.. it was fine... but i forgot who it was... Also i don't think afc tells you the speed reading??? i don't know... but.. if you just want something to read your speed then get a rsm (rev speed meter)... or as others mentioned Pivot.... or a 2nd hand TRD full scale meter.... |

As Billy mentioned, the AFC Neo is rejected after a few weeks, the ECU ignores its signals and carries on as per normal. Thank to our overly smart ECU
The gains you get from adjusting just Air/Fuel isn't going to be much, spend a little more get an ECU that does all sorts of tuning not just A/F and you'll reap benefits =DAnd as someone else mentioned, RSM or SLD will do the trick |
