Is it just a case of disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours yeah?

Just wanted to give it a reset. Will it re-learn quite quickly? Run a bit lumpy and idle funny for the first few miles?

Cheers.

Will disconnecting the battery for half an hour do the job or is there a better way?

7 amp fues in the big relay box in engine bay... only takes like 1min with out power nothing stores it, or pull fuse an try start car acouple of times then put fues back in... will drain any caps

Is it numbered or will it say on the box which one is the ECU fuse?

the ecu, to an extent, is learnable. also, any previous error codes that the ECU had stored will still be stored even if said error has been fixed. re-setting the ECU just allows a clean slate so to speak.

I believe pulling the fuse would also work too yes. Providing like you said, you left it out for a while. :)

reset ecu if...
- Check Engine Light(CEL) is up and you've solve the problem
- minor mod to the engine, if you still use the standard self-learning ecu

purpose...
so that the ecu start to read it's default mapping and to receive new feedback from sensors in order to create new 'self-learned' mapping

anyway, the ecu will still continue to learn and change the mapping even if you didn't reset it... unless it's due to the CEL then you reset in order to clear the problem code and let the ecu check for further problem if any...

disconnect the battery or pull the efi fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay...
sometime you might want to reset if you feel your car is slugish or fuel consumption became higher suddenly...

Hey guys,

I heard that you should reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery terminals every time you go for a hard drive, long road trip or after putting in a new modification.

Is this true? Cos i've also heard that is is bad to disconnect the battery

Not after hard driveing anyways. I reckon you only need to do it when you change the octane petrol your using or add a performance mod.

you don't need to disconnect the battery, you can pull out one of the fuses and it does the same thing, not sure which one though

Think it's the EFI fuse, there is a legend inside the Fuse box that should indicate which one this is

How do you remove that big mother of a fuse?

I stuck in a screwdriver to release that catch, but its so damn hard to get out...

Is that the way to do it? Anyone know an easier way?
There is a little clip on the side of the fuse , use a small flat screw driver to release it and fuse will pull out , had mine out the other day with no problems ;)

Thats the wrong fuse mate. The efi is a small one to the front left of that :D
