Has anybody fitted one? What is the main idea of them and what is the desired effect of them. I have heard that they dont work on 4cyl cars. I only ask because i have been offerd one for cheap. Is it worth it?

The basic function is to stop people from overreving their engine
It exercises Ignition cut instead of the factory fuel cut, it cuts the Ignition at a rpm point set by you, fuel is dumped hence flames and popping It should work for all cars but best to check the manual |

aka Hyper Rev 4...
|
there's not much help in installing those items on a automatic car... but it could only free up maybe 5hp at the most if you got someone to tune the ecu correctly... |

Just make sure the backfires aren't so bad that it blows ya exhaust to bits (memory of out of time 304deg cam and driving home with no exhaust) |

I put one into my levin a while back, seriously fun yokes banging like a shotgun when the cars warm! I wouldnt recommend holding it on the limiter though, especially when driving the cars dont like it one bit. How i used it was to have it set at 7500 rpm and when i shift the minute I hit that mark it would let out an unmerciful backfire and often you could see the tail of a flame in the rear view mirror
