Where abouts in the exhaust? My guess would be no as it would be classed as a leak? |

Performance exhaust FAIL. Pre-historic and properly ghetto way of making your exhaust louder from the time before mandatory vehicle tests. No performance gain whatsoever only a ruined muffler and test failure. |

OMG... can't believe your friend even thought about it... yes it will make it a bit louder, but the long term failure of lossing power, rusting in the area where it's gonna be drilled, water getting in, instant fail in WOF inspection... as others mentioned... probably not a good idea at all... |

It's actually an old school way of trying to prevent mufflers from rotting out - Drilling a small hole in the muffler to let water drain out. It was pretty common to have to replace mufflers due to the rotting. Infact years ago (way way before i started at Toyota) our huys had a huge stock of mufflers at the dealership.... Currently you won't need a cat but TBH i wouldn't be surprised if the greenies have their way here and they become compulsary |

but to prevent mufflers from rotting you just drive the car everyday... or don't leave the car in a moist area for long periods of time.... |

Nah apparently it was real common for mufflers to rot out. Even using a car every day didn't help as they needed to do hot running not just popping down to the supermarket etc. Most modern systems don't suffer from this problem as badly as they are made from better materials |
