I pulled of the stockplenum yesterday to intall some velocity stacks and noticed a small puddle of oil in the plenum. made a few calls and was told that it was blow-by, something not good and a sign of worn piston rings. The car does not feel like its losing compression and it dynoed 133 whp on 90 octane but i will have a compression test done to be certain. Has anyone ever experienced this before? |

very normal you will find your plenum probably has never been removed. clean it up clean inside the throttles and install a catch can or just keep an eye on it. what k's has it done? compression will still be up just the oil control rings get clogged up/weak |

Its a 1999 and i got it with 85,000km, its now at about 95,000. No oil was inside the horns and the breather hose that leads to the intake has been replaced by a filter from 2006, so the oil is coming from the PCV valve (just above the toyota sign for those who don't know it). Another thing, the oil looked like un-used oil so this really puzzles me. |

as ace said install a catch can then you wont have the oil going through the pcv valve i installed one in my car little while ago not much oil collects in it but rather that then go back into the intake |

Yeah it's very common to find this. Doesn't hurt to use a little throttle body cleaner while the TB's are exposed and give them a birthday |

will be fine, what weight oil are you using? to avoid it run a catch can and run the pcv to it |
