Ive heard of people doing this simple ignition setup, I was wonder what coil over spark plug set up would be easy to get as well as work well. Also what components would be needed to complete said swap. in other words, coil packs. pigtail for the coil packs, ignitor, etc. Any info is appreciated. andrew c. |

Any reason for going coil over plug? I've heard of people with coil over plug set ups going to remote mounting the coils to stop them from crapping out due to heat. Not to say it's a bad idea but more for my curiosity |

I mostly want to do it because I want to clean up the engine bay a bit. Some say the performance is better, but there's only one way I will find out. If I try it myself. Ive already dynoed it in its current setup, so when I do the conversion I'll have to put my Espelir JGT500 exhaust back on. Ive heard the same about the overheating too. But people cant get mad about it, especially if they're modding it far away from stock form. I dont mind having to replace the coil over plugs every so often, Im a wrench monkey. I also plan on modding a 16v water pump and running the 20v with it, so I can get rid of the waterline relocation kit. Again I like seeing a clean engine bay. Lesser crap, happier me. Ive thought about remote mounting the coils. But I'll fine tune the conversion in time. Ill post the conversion log on here. Idk if anybody else has done the conversion. But I'll post it up anyway. andrew c. |

Isn't the remote mount coil something people usually do when fitting an after market ECU like Megasquirt and running Ford EDIS? |

Thats what it sounds like. I like the idea of less crap floating around out and away from the engine. The less the better, for me at least. I plan on a rebuild the same time I do the conversions. Anybody got a part number or a location to source a rebuild kit. Im in the USA and may not be able to get a kit easily from overseas. So any tips or advice would be nice. andrew c. |

will be hard and not worth while trying to make 4 coils run on the std ecu, you need to run a 4chn ignitor and you cant do this on a stock toyota ecu as it needs the IGF return signal. I run 4x coils as I dont run the spark though the dizzy |
