As far as I know you can just tuck it behind the heatshield, won't come up with any warning lights as it's not needed. Later models didn't have the Cat sensor. |

As said previously. Its a cat temp sensor. Not needed for this country so you can leave it tucked up on the heat sheild |

Did you reset the ecu after fitting? After fitting my decat a few years ago It would let out the odd flame on the over run

its goverened on age for mots in this country , it will require the cat back on for the mot unfortunetly, cut off year is 1993, you can try and get it through without but yours is goverened on exhaust emmissions, depending on how high they are now will depend on a pass or fail, why not take it to a test station with the decat on and ask for an emmision test only

Mine passed the emission test with the same decat pipe + an Apexi N1 system and full ARC intake. In fact it was well under so you should be ok |

Sounds good. I've just put my catalytic converter back in today as its MOT time soon. Its too quite now all the lovely raspyness is gone. It stank in a good way without the cat too. Edited by Jungian, May 7 2010, 09:50 PM.

Was there really much power gain or it only "sounds" faster, I'm a little sceptical at a decat providing much difference at all, unless the compliance CAT is highly restrictive or the original JDM CAT is buggered, the original CAT wasn't really that undersized. Just after some figures that's all

I've got a decat in at the moment and I'm nearly certain it's slowing down the car a good bit, especially below 5000 revs |

imo decat sounds fine on a standard system but gets a bit too noisy for my liking when used with aftermarket catback and/or headers

imo i gained in the rpm range above 4.5k and lost some torque below that. The engine felt better when staying in high rpm through corners after decat. (gutted out cat) only negative is it does backfire a little with some flames. And it seems to perform badly when cars still cold! As if it needs to warm up the exhuast before it runs better (ie when cold it has alot of noise and raspy backfire) |

CAT will muffle the flames and produce only black smoke... If you think about exhaust design, you want it to flow enough to not restrict but you also need some back pressure to ensure you have some low end torque... |

I can agree with that. I've put my cat back on after nearly a year of driving without and there is definitely a torque gain below about 3500 rpm. Its much better to drive now at normal road speeds. I wrapped my headers last year and that produced a noticeable boost in torque in the low rpm and helped gain back some of what was lost below about 3.5k rpm when I went decat. Not all the time though. The exhaust has to be very hot to really notice it, you have to drive it hard to get it to work well. |

yours was blowing out kev!! i put a de cat into my car i didnt find any difference in power tbh but when i put a cat back in for the nct my car did feel more sluggish with the de cat in the car revs more freely i think. i wouldnt give it up for any one any way! decats = all good stuff haha |
