I think the 5 speed can take more abuse. I have a 6 speed and love it, really nice and tight gear changes.

I'm not sure what the ratios are for both but with a high revving, low torque motor it'd say the more gears, the better. Easier to keep in the sweet spot without having to nail it as hard.

I've had both the 6 speed is a million times better for driving on the road and especially on track. If you just do motorwaydriving or dragracing I go fo the 5 speed though. The longer 4th gear makes the 5 speed quicker from 90 mph+

i think ill be trying the 6 speed then ha. i do mainly short drive of late and a bit of motorway driving but i like an involving drive. just have to swap the engines out now as the clutch is going so not alot more to get it all done at the same time.

Its well known that the 5 speed is a stronger unit and gives slightly more acceleration due to lower ratio's

I would prefere the 5 speed personally

The 6 speed box is better for acceleration it has a higher final drive
