Hi guys, Just wonder if anyone here find its difficult to down gear to 2nd from 3rd at approx 60-70km/h. I find that even double clutching its difficult to make it go straight in. I have no problems upgearing at any rpm, even red line. Only problem is going 3rd to 2nd. I'm comparing it with my old civic, which had mobil1 oil in the gearbox, and it allowed very easy gearing down to 2nd at virtually any rpm. What are your opinions? Do I need to fchange the gearbox oil in my levin? or anything to do with having LSD? Thanks heaps in advance!!

Without trying it to make you sound like a noob, you aren't having the gearstick effectively catching on the gating for reverse? I found at first i was struggling to go first to second when the car was cold and it was that i had too much force on the gearlever to the left if it makes sense? |

hehe thats okay. Upshift first to second is fine and even 8+k rpm. Its just the downshift from 3rd to 2nd. Also my reverse is to the left of 1st

i think what 1i1 is saying when your shifting from 3rd to 2nd you might be pushing the shifter too far left and the gear box thinks you want to engage reverse hence making your shift from 3rd to 2nd difficult ?

I find anyone who drives my car for the first time struggles on the downshift from 3rd to 2nd, Id say the reason above is the culprit in that situation... However, when im on track (high RPM's) i struggle myself sometimes to downshift to 2nd. Ive been driving on track in my levin for 3 years now and still the same problem sometime. New gear oil, clutch etc and still the same. Ive heard of alot of people having the same issue aswell. Can be dodgy coming into a corner and you cant find the gear!

Sometimes i find the same problem, i doubt its anything to worry about, probably coz of where reverse is in the car. Anyone who drives my car finds the reverse awful akward to get used to. |

cheers guys. Im not worried about it, just more annoying if u build up speed and find urself entering a corner in neutral then 3rd, instead of high rpm 2nd gear. When i get my car back, ill try and test if im pushing too far left when down gearing. Thnx for the replies guys

Yup that's spot on to what i was meaning. I like how certain cars such as the JZA80 have a lever on the gearstick that needs to be lifted so that you can engage reverse. |

I had the same problem with my 6 speed gearbox. Before down gear to 2nd and put the gear shifter on "Neutral" and use your gas pedal to raise your RPM a bit!! Then down gear to 2nd!! This works! |

yeah i tried that. Double clutching doesnt seem to work for me. Its wierd up gear is fine, yet down gear is a little more difficult. OH well
