Hi guys. I know that the ECU thread is long but I wanted to know about using an ecu from another Toyota Engine.
When I had my AE101 4AFE Automatic Marino I used the 7AFE Automatic ECU from the US Spec Corolla and the 3SFE Automatic ECU from the JDM Rav 4. I did notice more power from the 3sfe ECU but I had two problems
1.The fuse for the guages would always blow
2. My car had the A240E Transmission and the 3sfe ECU could not read it so I had to unplug the Tranny wires and shift manually but it worked. I was able to hold my own against my friens 4AGE Silvertop Marino.

Is there any other Toyota car that has the same ecu pinout? Since the 3SFE could fit the 4AGE, would the 3SGE fit the 4AGE?

So far I have found out that some ECU have the same pinout as the 4age 20V
4AFE (Manual & Auto)
7AFE (Manual & Auto)
3SFE (Manual & Auto)
3SGE (Manual & Auto)
1G-GT (GA70 Supra Manual)
1G-FE (GX100 Soarer Auto)
1ZZ-FE (Auto)

What's the point man?

Better to tune your car properly rather than muck around...

Well money don't grow on trees here man. loll. The prices that I see for stuff in Pounds will have to multiply by 5 to equal to my money and customs takes 65% of CIF for car parts. If it works at least it would be an easier route as there are cheaper ecu upgrades for 3SGE than the 4AGE.

Be worth a go man ! I guess the results we kinda be just luck of the draw ? Did the same with a friends BMW a few years back, it was a e30 325i and we fitted a 320 ecu just because we had one and to see what it did, it upped the rev limiter by around 700rpm iirc.

I will try it this weekend. My team mates Supra is down at the moment so I will try the 1G-GT (GA70 Supra Manual) ecu.

Well $1600.00ec aint bad is the customs 65% I cant pay :$ fake invoice :$ but I see where you guys coming from. Never thought about cylinders and stuff like that just thought about ECU pinout. I was just trying to find an easier way to get power but thanks for helping me out.
I will still use the 3SFE ECU on my other 4AFE project though.
