Hi guys I have a Tanabe Hyper Medallion chambered muffler (The inlet pie is offset from the outlet and when i put a stick down the inlet it touches the other end of the pan so i know it is chambered) that I would like to put on my car but i want to know if it will make less power, more power or no power. More power or no power is fine. It has a Jasma Plate with R98 on it. What does Jasma R98 that mean? Will it be louder than stock since it is chambered? Is a stock muffler better for racing or can i drop my pipe like the Honda's ? I currently have a home made Y pipe on my car that I unbolt while on the track. Great fireballs during shifts but noisy as hell and I do realize that engine response is better with Y pipe closed but i feel more top end with it open. Maybe just my but dyno but it does feel faster up top. I also have OBX Test pipe (Cat converter replacement). |

Its your SOP Dyno, reality check, you're psychological gain isn't anything irl Unless your previous CAT was choking your Blacktop, the stock factory one from Japan is actually pretty decently sized. (Fact proven with my HKS Super Header Type-II + JDM CAT + FGK Power Getter)JASMA R98 refers to it being below the 98dB from memory as JASMA has different levels (96dB, 98dB and R.O) As for the Tanabe Hyper Medallion Axel Back? You'd probably get more noise but doubt any gains will be made. It certainly wouldn't be more restrictive than the factory muffler (from what I can see) Edited by DreadAngel, Aug 5 2010, 02:44 PM.

Had to put on the Tanabe as the baffles went in the stock exhaust. Has a bassy sound up to 4k rpm then Engine noise kills it. My exhayst pipe is leaking so I will check the sound after the gasket id fixed. |
