Majot flat spot at 1000 rpm; Help !

i just fitted an itg sausage filter on my trumpets, and also fitted the pipes that were originally on the plenum to the base plate.
when i start it up, the engine goes straight to idle at 800rpm, where as before it would be 1800rpm then decline after a couple of mins. when i apply the throttle, the car hits a big flat spot at 1000rpm (as if its going to cut out).
i went for a drive and noticed after the engine warmed up the problem disappeared. there were no other problems through the rev range or whilst i was driving it.

can anyone shed some light please ? i really dont want to leave it like that.
something to do with those pipes maybe ? or something else

not sure if ive posted in the right place, just thought "intake" :idk:

well its just like before, but with the itg filter on instead of the universal socks. before the change of filter, i didnt have a prob, so its either somehow the filter, or the pipes that originally ran to the plenum.

This is my install thread, the extra 3 holes are where I fitted the 2 original hoses from the standard plenum and the air temp sensor. I fitted them into the ITG backing plate so everything is filtered still (and the temp sensor is accurate)

I can't see how the filter would be giving you problems, maybe a vacuum pipe is hanging loose and it resting on something and blocked? Not really sure

i did have look at this before. its the same as i have done, except i havent put the air temp sensor there, and i havent used grommets.

could be one of the pipes im thinking. do you know which pipe is which ?

how did you get the air temp sensor over to the base plate ? didnt really look, but the wiring doesnt look like its easily moved.

I cut the plug off and extended the wires for the temp sensor. None of the pipes are blocked are they? Like maybe where the open end is, it's moved and it pressing tightly up agaisnt something (throttle trumpet of something?)

think ill just leave the temp sensor in the filter housing for now.

found out why i have had this problem anyway. when i extended the biggest pipe in order to put it in the base plate, i used some smaller hose and fitted into the big one. as a result it restricted the idle airflow. as soon as i pulled it off the idle pipe, the car ran as normal.

what i should do now is take the plate off again and make i bigger hole so that i can fit i bigger piece of hose in, but i really cant be arsed.....at least not atm. i was thinking of just buying a little filter to put on the end of it. what do you guys think ? be fine wouldnt it, wouldnt somehow affect performance would it ?

might be a good idea to put this in perspective. so you have a 1600 engine which revs to 8200rpm and has approximately 2.5 hp @ 1000rpm and you are worried about only having 1.7hp @ 1000rpm?!?

tbh i wouldn't either bother with it. when you modify a car you can't retain how it drives from factory. especially when you put short throttles on it. talk to someone with a turbo car and see if their car still drives like stock.

but one quick check you could do is reset the TPS settings just to make sure it is picking the right point in the map to go from. and try what ESCY said.
