strip all parts right down that you want to do clean them all with a good degreaser, and just take your time doing each part keep heating the wrap up to enable stretch etc and keep pressing firmly down allow an over lip on all edges i then used a stong bond glue to put under the edges and tooked them over that way no movement can be allowed in the heat just take care take your time and try on a couple of small parts to start with before takling the main larger parts Robcam might have some other usefull tips from his experiance doing his as well good look and cheers for the comments re my old truenos interior

You should be using an adhesive promoter such as "3m 94 primer" this is a product that is applied to the surface b4 the vinyl and stops it coming unstuck when its forced around tight curves or when the car is left in the sun and the interior gets very hot. |

That doesn't really happen over here especially in the current climate. On a side note would it be worth coating in laquer to prevent scratching? |

I did this, also in my thread some photos of it. I just recently stripped it all off, and sprayed it all black. Mainly because my TRD sticker never sticks to it in the heat. :( Happy with my sprayed dash now.

Yupp, I just put my dash cover thingy back on 5 minutes ago! Woop! Only got around to spraying it yesterday, just before my last post. The 3 comparisons: From this ![]() To this ![]() ![]() And finally, to this ![]() ![]() The sprayed photos don't do it any justice, it looks a whole lot better in person. Silly cellphone camera. The wrapped look I thought was awesome, just New Zealand heat really gets to it I found. Kept coming up at the corners, and of course, air bubbles, lol.

Ambient temps over here are nowt like NZ Jase Our hot and their hot are worlds apart Ledge- Good job. Far too fiddily for me to try something like that. Altough every time I see a auto shifter in a ae111 it makes me sad |

to stop the vinyl peeling off you are meant to use an adhesive promoter such as "3m primer 94" |

where do you get this '3m primer 94' and is it like any other primer you just spray on in light coats. or is it like a gel based product. I tried going to local hardware stores like Bunnings and the newb had no idea what i was talking about. Also with the corners do you just make small incisions in the wrap to go round the corners?? |

most sign writing suppliers would have it. I purchased it from the same place i got the vinyl from. its about the consistency of water and smells very fumey. You just apply a couple of coats with a brush. Yea usually put it over the corners with a bit of heat then put a few small cuts behind the piece so it sticks down well. |

so how you apply the wrap? do you use it as one piece or do you cut it out first? as there is air cond unit and cd player unit and would the 3m primer 94 make it harder to wrap? Edited by thegame-01, Mar 9 2011, 02:46 PM.

no the primer makes it stick better doesnt cause any issues when wrapping its best to cut out an oversized section of wrap to the part your doing you need a steady hand and a good eye.....you overlay the wrap then start the heating process in the area youre working on the help push and strech the wrap into the areas that have cut outs , slightly cutting the wrap to help it in , always leave and wrap over on the fine areas though ........ practice on a small component first till your confident enough to tackle the bigger picture

Siho87, did you use any chemical to wipe the surfaces before applying the wrap? I had the problem in my car where the sun heat would make the wrap loose again, especially in the corners where it peeled back quite a bit. I read that to stop this you use pure alcohol to wipe the surfaces firstly?(Confirmation anyone? )

yes use a degreaser mate . alcohol wipes are ok but before wrapping use "3m primer 94" this will prevent peeling ![]() |

yeh i used alcohol wipes, and yes would use adhesive primer if you intend to keep it on, also just gave all the wrapped parts a coat of laquer, personally thinks it now looks 10x better gives it a nice shine and less of a wrapped feel, can still feel the 3d effect if you not too heavy with the primer wil posts some pic in the near future :-) edit - pics added Edited by siho87, May 9 2011, 05:35 PM.
