Unfortunately ive noticed a leak in my engine and by the looks of its it's really bad.I discovered it when cleaning round the engine bay and when i looked below the source of the leak there seams to be a large amount of clutch fluid.I have noticed that im having problems with gearbox and changing gears I assumed that was gearbox was going but i now think it might be this as when I checked the clutch fluid resevoir it was near empty ive topped it now and im now keeping an eye on it but can the seal in the pic below be changed or is it more bad new for me. Thanks for any help. ![]()

is it clutch fluid? kinda looks like rust. if it is rust then check the cooling system and make sure its got coolant in it not water. best thing to do is clean the engin down and wait for it to leak again find out where its coming from. |

I dont think its coolant as the coolant tank is still on full where as the clutch resevoir was near empty |

That's hydraulic fluid. Coolant chrystalises after a while. I would top up the clutch fluid resivour a clean off all the staining from where you can see and get somebody to pump the pedal until you see where your leak starts |

Tried this earlier today, the leak is'nt to bad but its still there and annoying me.The leak is actually coming from the rubber seal thats in the second photo. Is it possible to buy this seal or does it come as part of gearbox? Does anyone possibly have a part number or a site where I could get it as I'm starting an engine rebuild Monday morning and I want to fix every problem I have with the car no matter how big or small Thanks |

id say a seal may be an issue but believe that rubber in the pic is just a sleeve to prevent dirt entering on strip down and removal of the engine should give you a better access to see whats causing it ,good luck with the overhaul kit
