My car failed the NCT recently on emissions. It was fine on low idle, but on high idle it failed on Lamba: 1.55 (should be between 0.97 and 1.03), and CO 0.91% (anything above 0.30% is a fail). A friend of mine thinks if the 02 senser was gone the emissions would be through the roof on low and high idle, is this correct? Does it sound like the 02 Sensor is gone, or would something like what someone posted below on a previous occasion be enough? **Before I went for my NCT earlier this year I cleaned the throttle bodies, did an oil/filter change and filled up using only used Maxol E5 for about a month beforehand. I also used about three bottles of injector cleaner and drove the shit out of the car to burn out any carbon deposits that might have been there. I kept the engine running at the NCT centre until they were ready to test, to keep the cat converter warm. Result: Really low emmissions!** Thanks in advance |

firstly what exhaust system you running on it, i ask as if you have something like a hks hipower silent the exit bore is big my old trueno would pass the lower tests but fail the high this was due to the above he would stick a rag or piece of wood over the exit and immediately it passed with flying colours |

Cheers guys, yeah I presumed it would be the lambs sensor just hoped there might be some way around it when I heard the price of it and the Toyota dealer here is a rip off. Have to get the air bag light sorted too, I took out the bulb coz it wouldnt turn off. They use'nt to check that but clearly they do now. |
