Hey guys, My car runs like a dream in every which way other than it not starting in the morning sometimes. Each time i've managed to start it by hooking up a battery charger for like 20mins or so. Upon closer inspection i've noticed the battery indicator is BLACK! my car is driven everyday, roughly 30 - 40kms minimum. Now i'm wondering whether the issue is solely with the battery or maybe my alternator is on it's way out? when i am driving i experience no issues whatsoever, no warning lights, engine sounds fine, aircon works fine, and lights are strong as an ox, it's really only when i leave it overnight. I am really hoping that it is the battery as it would be the easiest fix. If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Phil. |

Hi Phil! Do you know how old the battery is? In winter our car's battery die pretty easily if its a cheap one/old one even with a working alternator. When my car was complied, the compliance guy used some **** battery, lasted only <6mths and middle of winter left me stranded... If you're running heavier loads, advisable to get an uprated battery otherwise just a stock good branded battery will do. I simply uprated my battery for ease of mine and smaller difference in price. No problems now! Edited by DreadAngel, Jun 1 2011, 02:06 AM.

Thanks for the reply, as far as I know Kyle replaced the battery last year but it just seems to keep dying. Even now as I'm sitting in my car outside work, the battery indicator was half green half black |

Could be the alternator, no harm in getting it re-conditioned |

the thing is the car is perfectly fine once it starts, it just seems it doesn't want to start on certain mornings :(. if the alternator was on its way out are there any apparent signs whilst driving? like my revs don't drop, lights don't dim and don't get any warning lights go on at all. |
