c56>c160 for a drag race. Less gear changing. For c52 I am not sure, as the revs will drop a lot out of the power band.

C56, 3rd, 4th and FD is shorter, C52 will probably drop you out of the powerband somewhat... It certaintly DOESN'T help the Silvertop XD

My brother had a C52 gearbox on his 20v. He had problem when he was changing gears from 2nd to 3rd, as the revs drop a lot out of powerband (around 4500rpm from 8200rpm).

The gear ratios are showing how "long" the gears will be.. The smaller the number, the longer the gears. If you can see, C52 and C56 have the same ratio in 1st and 2nd gear. The problem with C52 is with 3rd gear, where it has 1.310 and C56 1.392.

I don't know the differences in the gearbox housing though..

C52 and C56 almost identical in casing so you won't be able to tell so easily.

from what I know how to distinguish between the c52 and c56. the c52 are It have a 'flange' at the end of the gear selector shaft housing, same too with c56 early on s/t! and the c56 It doesn't have a 'flange' at the end of the gear selector shaft housing, so.. in my case It doesn't have a 'flange'!! my frez said its c52.. im confuse..!! how opinion my fanz?  i dont know if c52 on 4afe doesn't have a 'flange'...
