Hi everyone! Now I know we've all know the E-Manage Blue aka EMB has achieved I think a good success rate now but the E-Manage Ultimate thus far has received mixed results. I was fortunate enough to pick up the EMU for pretty cheap off a friend so I decided to give it a try, I'm curious to see if it'll work on my car, after all if I'm able to lean her out and get her running more efficent/more power then why not? =) Disclaimer - It has worked for me so far as of 08/06 I can't guarantee it will work 100% for you nor can I comment on its effectiveness YET. I highly recommend sitting down with a friend who's actually very well versus with EMB/EMU otherwise you will NEVER get a satisfactory result. Yes, if a Tuner reckons he can wire up and tune an EM cause its like any other ECU, be very aware. EMs are temperament and one wrong thing during installation or tuning and its a nightmare. Setup/Installation Part A Okay this was installed on an AE111 Blacktop 20V running a Blacktop ECU Manual. Trust Parts: E-Manage Ultimate Part# - 15500501 E-Manage Ultimate Suppliment 1.5m Harness Part# - 15901501 NB: There is a 2.5m Harness Part# - 15901502 if you need longer ![]() E-Manage Blue AE111 Specific Harness Part# - 15910902 I was going to try and wire this up myself but confused myself badly so I got my very damn good friend to do this while I played the assistant. Jumper Setting - Keep it as Trust Factory Setting so it should be: JP1 - Open JP2 - Open JP3 - Open JP4 - Open JP5 - Open JP6 - Open JP7 - 1-2 JP8 - 1-2 JP9 - Open JP10 - 1-2 JP11 - Open JP12 - Open JP13 - Open JP14 - Open JP15 - 1-2 JP16 - Open JP17 - 1-2 JP18 - Open JP19 - 1-2 JP20 - 1-2 Wiring - Forget about it being Plug n Play even with the Specific harness, the Supplement harness or Connector C I believe from memory... It has to be wired into the Spec harness, hope you have a lot of practice at wire stripping and cutting kids. NB: Pin Out diagram is looking from the BACK of the plug not the front. Stupid I know but its very easy to confuse yourself thanks to the Japlish translation. Reaching the Stock ECU - Fun times ahead for those that worked on AE111s... The way we approached it was to removed the bottom half of the dash (Yes you can thank Toyota's ingenius interior designers for the moduler system) and then remove the stock ECU from that stupid below center console mounting position. This will all your wiring to be preserved nicely, allow you room to work with, relocate the bitch and for me most importantly not get bunched up/bent/creased. Relocate the stock ECU and EMU somewhere nice =) Edited by DreadAngel, Jun 11 2011, 02:18 PM.

Setup/Installation Part B Setup Now this is the worst bit... The EMB AE111 Spec harness + the Suppliment Harness has to be wired together to produce essentially an EMU AE111 Spec harness. You have to check the diagrams properly to make the complete harness gents otherwise you'll **** up your car period. I'll take shots of what it looks like all wired together... Okay so tuning session over... MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT especially since stock ECU + high comp bottom end = unhappy marriage. The engine's power, torque and response is far beyond comprehension, you'd think you're driving a different car o.O Sounds different too!!! Now before you go rushing out to by the EMU etc etc, lemme drive it around for about 2-3wks and see if the mappings get rejected etc etc. On bypass it seems it didn't get rejected so hopefully after tuning it won't too... I'll be getting a dyno run to see =) Edited by DreadAngel, Jul 7 2011, 04:51 PM.

Nice thread, Interested to see how this goes. On a seperate note, been away from this thread for some months unfortunately but didn't you sell your lovely white 111 for a S2K? Missed the 111?

Hi gents, haven't had time to get dyno runs or anything so I don't have any 'statistical' proof (It will come...) but on every start and everytime I hit the pedal, no CELs or Redlight from the EMU and feels so damn great, like I mentioned, if it doesn't work consistently, I'll know because the engine will start running rougher again... So EMU has to date been working fine for me... @ Peter - Actually mate, should check my post regarding the S2K and erm the photo... LOL... Edited by DreadAngel, Jul 24 2011, 04:20 AM.

i like the sound of this, and i think you made my day, i been wanting to try this piggyback long time ago, yet still it's very very difficult to tune. may i ask who is your tuner? if i was to purchase one can i send it to him and he tune it for me on another blacktop? is your engine stock? |

@ Z33kdud3 - Its best to find someone that can tune (Any ECU that you're thinking of getting) for you locally, your fuel and your environment different to ours and also my engine is running hi-comp bottom end hence why it was mandatory for me to get it tuned otherwise it was running like a pig XD @ Bryan - It wasn't 'hard' per say to actually do, but understanding which wires to connect to which and which ones to simply tie off was the difficult part... I'll get some photos for you soon regarding that =) |
