Hi lads looking for a bit of help here, bought the apexi bolt on air filter and there's a hole about an inch in diameter on the bottom of the metal pipe.
I cant seem to figure out what its for, maybe someone who has installed theres knows.

Havent got a chance to install it because im working away from home and have no tools.

Im sure its a simple answer but said id ask here so im prepared at the weekend.

Thanks

Ya I have to look at it properly when I get a chance this weekend. I never touched the air filter just changed the pod and there's nothing left of the original airbox. So are you saying there should be an heat sensor lying around loose under my current filter. Or do you mean the oil catcher pipe (I think its called) going into the block.

It would be the air temp sensor I'm guessing :)

Right managed to have a proper look at it today, I found the air flow metre and to anyone that installed it when you put the afm in the apex pipe how did you fasten it properly. What I did was disconnect the metre from the plug, sit the tip on the hole inside the apexi pipe and insert the plug from the outside on the hole but it doesn't snap back in fully.

Apologies if I'm making no sense here I can try and explain properly if someone needs me 2. Need help please :)

get a picture up! :)

though if you're referring your ae111, we don't have the AFM, we have a map sensor. What you're thinking of is the temp sensor that goes into the stock airbox. I've got an arc induction box and there's a hole that is made specifically for that sensor.

i'd imagine to secure it you'd zip tie it before the sensor to hold it in place? or have i misunderstood what you mean :(

Ya I could get a pic but ill try and explain it one more time :)

The temp sensor plugs in to the wire, so I unplug the sensor, stick the sensor in the pipe and then connect the plug back in at the hole in the bottom of in the pipe but the connection doesn't click fully because of the pipe thickness and there's no chamfer on the pipe to let it sit in fully either.

If that doesn't explain it ill get a pic up for you, its been on the car for the last two week's and its been fine so dont think it's really a problem.

the pipe off the induction pipe is for the breather pipe

I don't think so gerard the hole on the induction pipe is an inch wide. The breather pipe is beyond that towards the plenum.

Well there's no doubt you could it put it in but you would have to plug it with something else because the breather pipe is about a 1/4 the size of the hole :)

All seems good with it anyway so id say its fine lol

I use an Apexi kit too and the hole at the bottom is for the Air temp sensor, it should clip in as it did on the standard airbox, the plug connected and all just press till it clips.

It will run without it, I noticed mine had fallen out at one point but it needs those readings to adjust fuel misture properly so make sure its plugged in.
