Well to start off, I bought myself a brand spanking new Zigen exhaust last Friday from couture auto. Gave it a nice rev when it was idleing and had a smile on my face instantly, until I drove out and put the boot down. From 2500 onwards when your foot's to the floor it literally sound's like a cesna airplane coupled with a horrible raspy buzzing sound, from what Ive heard these exhausts aren't meant to be loud but my god this one is lol its embarrassing giving it socks.Plus side: It sounds lovely when its idle and when your cruising and keeping it below 2500-3000 before shifting up. I love the angle it sits at and the tip is nice too. Solution: I hope my decat is the source of this horrible noise when I floor it, so would anyone know if I put the cat back in will I notice much difference in noise? e.g not sound like a cesna airplane Also does anyone have the same exhaust and whats your experience with it? Any feedback would be appreciated |

Ya dreadangel but I don't think that video is picking up the buzz, I can't really explain it. Do you think if I put the cat back in would it quiet it down much? |

Personally the CAT adjust volume more than pitch/sound. Since you've got a Decat, I'd expect even a 100cell Hi-Flow CAT to be quieter than what you have now. With mine, I changed from I 'think' an average condition OEM Toyota CAT to a 200cell Hi-Flow CAT. At first I thought I made a big mistake, the Hi-Flow CAT was incredibly loud, sounded awesome and I can feel the pressure ease on the engine? BUT the volume for my philosophy (fast under the radar) was totally unacceptable. However after it was 'run-in' and the Hi-Flow CAT had baked in I guess you can call it, the volume died down, now its just slightly louder or softer in some cases? (My car is almost silent in 5th/6th at certain rpm ranges on sustained throttle) 5Zigen's ProRacer range along with the Fireball series are amongst the loudest they produce LOL =P I think you've gotten the wrong impression from people, cause the ProRacer series even on my old Fit was pretty loud, softer than my old Spoon N1 which is well a Spoon N1... XD |

i think that exhaust sounds nice. probably just needs to be worn in. and be a bit better with the cat on. |

Well I have the original cat in good condition so probaly gonna put in this weekend and see if there's much difference. Your philosophy fast under the radar is exactly the same as mine this exhaust in ireland is asking to be pulled over lol. On the plus side it seems to be changing tone slightly with less of the rattly buzz when I floor it, could be just me getting used to it tho ![]() Yup definitely got bad advice with this purchase!
Is worn in exhaust actually true, I was reading up about it on a couple of forums and a lot of people say it's not. Could explain why the sound seems to be changing slightly for me (I've done about 300 miles since its been put on)
I dont mind the bangs and backfires it's the buzz noise that's bad. Maybe its time for a new cat then I find the idle is nice and not overpowering at all. |
