I take it you have removed the resonator from behind the bumper? |

you notice more of a difference if you increase the length on the intake pipe. buy some more aluminium piping and plumb it into where the resonator box goes. you'll shift your power band back and gain more low-mid power/tq and still gain top end. |

resinator is behind the passenger front dirt guard sits just behind the bumper , big white plastic box....... me personaly would extend your chrome pipe down behind the battery through the resonator hole and mount the hks where the res box was , i did it to mine and a few others have , you get a better cold air feed, your still sucking too much hot air where it is now |

The res box is infront of the front left front wheel. The best way to get it out is to jack up the car and take the wheel off then remove the arch liner. It'll be the big white box. Should be 3 bolts to get it out. |

My question is does the HKS 'mushroom' type fit behind the bumper like the 'cone' does? Wondered this some days ago. Saving up to get the parts to start my project CAI, lol. |

i actually fitted the hks behind the bumper a few weeks ago. in order for it to fit, you need to either; have the CAI going through the hole at an angle, have a short piece of 45 degree angle behind there, or have a short piece of 90 degree angle behind there. (as the hks will fit either at an angle, or facing directly forward) i naively assumed it would fit, but when i went to attach it straight on, the filter was going into the arch lining, and therefore wouldnt fit on without pushing the lining on the wheel. because i had to get it done, i scoured my garage for something that would sort me out. i ended up finding a weird 90 degree angle pice of hosing from a lorry of some sort, which was perfect diameter one side, but expanded to gaping hole on the other. in a bit of desperation, i found more hosing to wrap around the diameter of the filter in order to fit it on to the angle hose. all came together nicely to be fair, and got it nice and tight with some jubilee clips. i noticed that with the mod, the power comes in earlier on in the rev range, and keeps going. |

The HKS Super Power Flow Reloaded is just a very basic SRI. Now if you consider our AE111, its quite pathetic in terms of air flow and space to construct a custom airbox since we've got a battery in the way. So the HKS SPFR by itself won't give any measurable gain, if anything you'll be more liable to ingest hot air from the engine bay. You could try a DIY air box incorporating the battery in the top shield along with the stock bumper feed tract along with open mouth like the Tom's Dual Feed to the front of the bumper. This should give volume and cold air however it won't funnel the air to the pods hence you may lose a bit of response... |
