Guys i have a problem, i decided to rebuild my gearbox after having the bellhousing damaged.
when the parts has been put back in and it's time to place the final c ring clip at the top of the bearings, one will not go on.
It needed more space for the clip to be installed, but nothing could go down anymore. We removed a c ring clip which was put at the top of the bearing at the top of the second case where there is a plate with 5 bolts, then it closed.
Is a c ring clip supposed to be at the top of the bearings where there is a plate at the top of the second case?

In the pic below shows a c56 box. At the very top are two bearings, Do both have c clips which goes imidiately after? Is it the same with the c160?

Hello Andyanu, i'm new to your forum but have a great amount of experience with these boxes. The c56 which is in the pic. uses only one c clip on the main shaft, the pinion bearing is is secure by the lock nut after the 5th speed drive gear is replaced
The c160, at that point uses two clips, (before the 5th & 6th engaging hub & drum is put on). When the 5th & 6th engaging drum is replaced, their is another clip, after the two last balancer bearings is replace their is two more clips, (one on either shaft) this where i think the problem you have exist, the thicker clip will not go on.
What i do is to put the box on the side allowing the weight of the gears to hang off the work table, the "play" will hang to the back. Use a impact socket (just big enough to go over the shaft) & a 2lb hammer to strike the bearing (not too hard to damage the bearing) a couple of times until it goes on enough for the clip to go on. Happens to me all the time
