Right peeps, i have recently swapped my RSR catback to the stock catback (thanks to Jase!! ) as MOT is up soon, and its a bit broken due to the damn speed humps!! anyways, ever since i had the standard catback i have noticed a drop in MPG - £30 would easily return 300+ish km before the light comes on, but now the light comes on at 250km!? now, am i right in thinking that this could be because of the restrictive design of the stock CB?? the RSR CB is a lot 'straighter', not many bends etc. a lot more free flowing. the difference in design was very noticeable when placed side by side with the stock. your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers!

if anything i would have thought that a standard exhaust would improve the mph not reduce it. the drop in mpg could be the increase in price recently? since your only buying €30 worth and that the price has gone up your getting less fuel for your buck. |

that was what i was hoping and thought as well... stock CB = improved mpg! actually the price of petrol has dropped significantly recently - paying £1.27 for V-power. used to be over £1.35+, pre Col Gaddafi's fall... |

Nice that someone somewhere is getting a decrease in fuel prices. Have you still got your cat in the car? |

The stock Catback won't improve the mpg... If its restrictive (Which it is), it produces too much backpressure, not enough flow, etc... All this means the engine has to work harder to produce the same amount of effort if you had the RS*R Catback... |

ya, still got the cat. dread, so reading between the lines, stock CB will decrease the mpg? what you are saying pretty much confirms my suspicions. I realised that the ECU was never reset since i put the stock catback so i did it this weekend, there probably wont be any changes in mpg but will report back by end of the next week. |
