Need help!

My levin is making a funny noise.

To be more precise, if im driving around and i take my foot off the clutch while the car is still in gear (i.e rolling in 3rd), it makes a grinding sound. happens 100% of the time with any gear but less sever as I go from 1 - 6ths gear.

I have the 1998 bz-r 6 speed manual

Anyone know what this could be??

just putting it out there: looking towards your release bearing being worn out?

gearbox off and change it, best to change clutch if your doing the release bearing. use a toyota release bearing if your buying a non gen clutch. they are better than the ones provided it the kit

Grinding sounds more like synchro's.......chatter is a more common sound from a release bearing, but until you get it properly checked out it's just guess work. How is the gearbox for oil???

So im going to have to get the bearing replaced and im going to go get a new clutch aswell.

if anyone can think of anything else that would be good to get while im doing this, as the job is transmission out. info would be appreciated.

also anyone have some suggestions as to what would be the best clutch for the ae111. I dont want to get one too hard on the gear box cus we all know they are weak as piss. Though I do want something a tad stronger, and a lightweight flywheel.

Any help would be great :D

I'd recommend an Exceedy heavy duty clutch. Thats all the TRD clutch is just without the TRD badge and price tag :)

Thats what I'm currently using and I can't fault it so far.

Do you reckon that will be too much for the gearbox or should be all good?

should be all good.

I have one in my 5spd and 4 months in no issues.
Its not overly extreme, just a more positive feeling as you let the clutch out.

Is there much done to the engine?

I have intake/exhaust so nothing extreme. Put an OEM clutch in it 40k ago - when we pulled the motor out the other month the clutch was still like new. No heat marks either. Was quite impressed.

That's with quick changes, the odd clutch kick when required etc (not into drag racing so never really "launched" it).

Would rather the clutch slip than brake my 6speed box :rotfl:

All stock bz-r ATM, planning on getting the tomei cams, new suspension and a full exhaust. And may be getting intake done but not sure on that yet.

Found out today it isn't the release bearing or the clutch, the transmission isnt very healthy and probably needs to be replaced :/
