Hi all, i am thinking about buying a 2000 Bzr that my friend owns. my bro owned it before him. it hasnt had an nct (mot) in 2 years, its been sitting for the last year. it needs a clutch. from what i can tell, the same clutch kit fits other cars, but, im not sure the release bearing is gonna be the same. maybe someone can confirm, if mr2, avensis etc. clutch kits fit perfectly. ill fit it myself, if its do able... ive done one before on a landcruiser amazon, but the engine and gbx are lengthways in those is it more difficult with a traverse mounted engine? at the mo im contemplating whether or not to take on another project. it is a good looking car i think ![]() ![]() Edited by Redd, Jan 3 2013, 08:57 PM.

yes! sounds good. is it just the disk, or the plate and bearing also? deffo interested. i was reading about the engine, - i had a landcruiser with a 1pz, 5 cyly version of 1hz, and i loved that engine. beautiful sound and loads of grunt. anyways i was reading about the 4A-GE blacktop engine, and by all accounts it sounds like a good engine. does it have any vices, what kind of mpg are you guys seeing, and, with the 6th gear, what km are you seeing at 3000rpm ? at the moment im driving an almera with a 1.5 engine, it makes 90hp. the levin is 1.6 and it makes around 150... ! wonder it thats at the expense of fuel. the almera is pretty good on fuel, but its fairly gutless and not an attractive car. cheers for reading once again, i think ill pm you Parrot about the clutch |

no worrys, a good one will do between 30 and say 36mpg on a good run. but it has to be maintained. there major vices are super strut can be problematic but when it works its great. the 6 speed box if abused can lose syncros but has to be really heavy handed for this to happen. and they dont have an oil level light just an oil pressure light so once the light comes on its to late.(not a big issue if you look after it) And most levins even looked after ones after about 100/120km start to use oil. this can be 500ml for 5km or it can go really bad to the point were a rebuild is needed but these are once again down to how the car is looked after. |
