Hey guys, this is my first post so please go easy on me My car is a ae111 xz (manual transmission 4afe) About a week ago my battery ran flat so I got a push start via getting towed by a mechanic friend. My mechanic mate told me to chuck it into 3rd gear while we were rolling, I did that and it wouldn't start. So since I didn't think about the consequences and really wanted my car to start, I put it into second gear while we were rolling and that caused a huge jerk as the gearbox came up to speed So after getting it started and driving around for about 20 minutes I started to notice something was jacked up with second gear. Once the engine has warmed up, if I go into 2nd and my rpm's are above say 3500, I hear this loud pop from the gearbox. I don't feel any crunching or jerking as I change, I just hear this loud pop and a little resistance from the gear knob as it goes in. Does anyone know what's going on? When the car is cold everything is perfect with no noise or anything (even at higher rpm's), but when it's warm 2nd gear makes the loud pop whenever I change to it at high rpms /: All the other gears are perfect, it's only 2nd when everything gets hot. Thankyou for your time |

could you hear it if you took a video? going into second gear does it feel kind of notchy? makes sense to happen whilst its hot as everything expands and therefore less clearance between components. |

sorry for the late reply man, just from listening it seems as though your second gear syncro is gone. Have you tried shifting into second gear really slowly and feel if there is a sort of vibration from the gearleaver? |

The gearbox is a c52 or c50? (neither are very sort after.) Either way id be very surprised if you couldn't get another one for under $200. |
