Hey friends, My name is Tony, I'm a Canadian that is currently living in Western Australia. I was stoked when I saw the import scene here being much larger than it is back home, and hopped on the opportunity to pick up a JDM vehicle. I needed something that was somewhat inexpensive to run (Yay petrol, damn you superstrut) but heaps of fun to drive. I ended up pick up a 98 Sprinter Trueno and I couldn't be happier. The superstrut is currently on it's way out with the knocking and play in the steering, but I've got a new control arm and BC coilovers on the way I've already been lurking in this forum for a while but I figured it was about time to introduce myself instead of just leeching all your information Here's some pics of my car. ![]() ![]() And as she sits now with the yellow foggies ![]() Looking forward to getting involved with our community

Welcome along! Nice looking Trueno you've got there! What part of Canada are you from before your relocation to the Southern hemisphere? |

Thanks guys! Can't wait to pick up a new set of rims for the ride... currently have my eyes on a set of Enkei Apache II's. 15x7 +38 offset, I believe that should fit? Anyways made a mock up to give myself a better idea, and god damn, I think these are the rims for me ![]() What do you guys reckon? Link to bigger pic:pic And before my relocation to down under, I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta! Looking to move back home in about 3-4 years, hopefully to buy a piece of land in the Okanagan valley in British Columbia

Yeah, I'd personally never imagined the Apaches on a car as modern as the AE111, but that Photoshop mock-up looks really good, and they actually suit it really well! I think the 15x7 ET38's should fit. I have some 15x7 ET37's that I'm in the process of refurbishing and when I bought them I checked out as many peoples' fitments as I could, it seemed to be fine. I've mocked them up on the car, and although they don't have tires on, clearance seems to be ok. |

They will fit with no problem at all. I have 16x7 ET38 rims and they fit fine although they are very sunken on the rear. Can get away with 20mm spacers in the rear and still not scrub. ![]() That's my 16x7 ET38 rims with 20mm spacers in the rear and 5mm spacers on the front. |

Excellent! Thanks for the heads up on the alloys guys. Looks like I will grab some spacers cause that fitment is exactly what I'm looking for, McLevin! Also got some vinyl wrap coming in the next few weeks as well that I'm planning to dress up the interior with. Will keep you guys updated in this thread as the plans come together |

Hey friends, Lots of time has passed... it's been a while since I've posted! I got the BC coilovers installed along with a new superstrut drivers side control arm as both the ball mounts were shagged ( $$ $$ )But, I am happy to say that the handling of this car is now phenomenal. Virtually no body roll and everything just feels so much tighter. Lowered her down a couple inches. I decided to put in a set of DBA slotted rotors! Brakes are now smooth as, and most importantly- not squeaky. Also threw smoke vinyl tint on the tails, gives it a slight tint, kind of a RX-7 feel. New stickers as well, because details ![]() Here are a few pics ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by TayOkay, Feb 1 2015, 12:47 PM.

Thanks ales_000! Yeah got the BZ-R sticker from jdmpit, definitely not cheap but at least it's authentic I bought the Toyota Sprinter decal from here. It belongs on an AE86 but I figured it would look good on the AE111 while giving a little bit of a subtle throwback. |

Ah, fair play! Thought that sticker looked familiar ![]() Liking the smoked tail light look as well. Is that permissible in WA? Or is it a case of being ok because the local cops don't know any better when they see a Trueno? |

Yeah man, just cut off and saved the trueno part cause I thought that would be overkill haha. I haven't had trouble with the smoked tails yet, and yeah I don't think I will *knock on wood* cause cops don't know what a stock trueno looks like... Even my car registration is for a "1998 Toyota coupe" haha I've seen maybe 2 Levins in WA |

Hi mate! Welcome along! It's good to see that some of the old ae111s are still kicking around. The site is pretty dead these days, but there's heaps of good info on here still. Unfortunately with photobucket changing their hosting policy lots of image links have gone dead. Also - are you a member of the Australian AE111s Facebook page? There aren't many from WA on there, but at least they are in the same country if you need parts etc. Group name is "AE111 Levin/Trueno Owners Australia" if you aren't already a member.
