Hi ya'all, My name is Thys and a proud owner of a AE11 Liftback. Now you're thinking, a liftback? Isn't that a car my grandma used to drive in? Could be, but I'm quite keen on mine. Since 2011 I've been adding and changing stuff to make it a unique car. My project is almost complete, it's hard to find any more upgrades, or it would be an engine swap, still running a (bit tuned) 4AFE. OK this is it for then. Perhaps I will make a project topic. For now you can see my project pages on Corollaforum.nl: Corolla Liftback project from Redge Edited by Redge, Jan 8 2015, 11:17 AM.

Hello and welcome! Are you planning to change the 4AFE to a 20V 4AGE?

I'm happy with my 4AFE, have a really good one, had only 134000km so still fresh, 120 hp on the dyno last summer. I tried a blacktop once in another AE111, it was faster but not that fast I was thinking: "I want this too!" It was actually a bit slower on the lower rpms. My ambition is more torque, so a 4AGZE should be more satisfying for me. But first enjoying my stock engine, it's fast enough. Or buying a Trueno GTZ, maybe cheaper than swapping. Thought about 3SGE but is no option as airco has to be deleted and I like my airco too much. |

Looks great mate! Welcome along to the site. The blacktop definitely prefers to be kept at higher revs, they can be a great little engine to drive hard, but I understand your motivation to look for something with better torque and driveability. Check out the 2ZZ and K20 swaps that are written up on this site for something a little different (though significantly more work than a 4AGE/4AGZE swap). In any case, welcome, and loving the look of your hatchback 111. Have a look for the RouseSport AE111 - it's a 3 door AE111 hatch which was intended for the BTCC and has a 3SGE with a reversed head. It lives here in New Zealand now and it is a very quick car... |
