Hellooo to all in the wonderful world of AE111'S. Hope this day finds you well :D

I am currently looking at buying an AE111 BZ-R and my potential new baby Is in my sights.

Main question is this:

Are there any known issues for this car that I should look out for? As the buyer has the vehicle SORN so a test drive may be out of the question although i will of course force one! Is there anything I should look/listen out for on these? Many thanks :D

Probably the biggest known issue with the BZ-R is the superstrut suspension.

On the roads in most parts of the world that are represented on this forum (NZ, Australia, UK, Ireland) the superstrut suspension doesn't last all that well. Another way of looking at it is that they are service components, that need to be replaced every so often. The problem with that is that although they last a reasonably long time (mine saw 110,000kms presumably without replacement before they flogged out), they're expensive to replace.

So if you buy one and you don't know for sure if the Superstrut components have been replaced, you may be up for a reasonable sum of money quite soon after purchase.

When the superstrut is actually on its way out it will make anything from a squeaking to a clonking noise over bumps and uneven surfaces. The noise comes from the front wheel area, but even if only one side seems to be making noise, I wouldn't expect to only have to replace one side - if one side is on its way out, the other normally soon follows.

Other issues (though IMO more minor):
The engines often run a bit rich. You'll potentially need to change the O2 sensor, particularly as you guys over there actually have to pass emissions tests.
The parts are not shared with many other cars, so finding them could potentially be a bit tricky.

That said, they're fun to own and good to drive, as import_trung said above, it's worth posting the car you're looking at as there aren't that many in the UK and it may have passed through here once before.
