Hey there guys, new user here but been lurking the forums for a bit since I got my Levin AE111 in June this year. Not sure if I'd get a response to this since this section of the forum seems a bit dated but I thought it was worth a shot. Recently I've been contemplating increasing the air intake through the ITBs with trumpets, but since people are saying it's not very practical for everyday road use and could also be detrimental to engine health, I kind of just trashed the idea. However, I discovered that people were putting small POD filters on each individual intake demonstrated with the following images I had found: ![]() ![]() ![]() The question I had was to do with the little adapter that seems to be required for this kind of setup. The thing in the middle between the ITB and the actual filter. I've been searching but haven't found anything on them. Does anyone know what they are or if they can be bought somewhere? I'd be using it on the Blacktop 4AGE 20V. Thanks heaps in advance! |

Don't do it, supposedly kills power having individual filters like that. Better off running an ITG filter or keep the plenum and do a pod filter setup. |

Where did you hear that from? Isn't it the same as trumpets but just with filters on the end? and would a single POD filter setup be better than the standard airbox setup? CAI vs SRI? |

Predominately with sock filters the problem falls. The guys from Hot Rod Magazine/Roadkill (look it up on youtube) did back to back dyno runs on a Hemi powered '55 Chev. It runs ITB's and made 600 odd hp iirc they then fit it with individual filters and killed 170 ish hp! |

Ive got mine on a Pipercross sausage filter with 50mm trumpets in it. It may have lost power or it may not i dont care. Its worth it purely for the sound.... I have also done the rather controversial thing of putting bonnet spacers to pop it up by 25mm and again, even if it does nothing for cooling its worth it for the sound haha. Trumpets basically pointing directly at me with a nice gap for all the sound to blast you in the face is so worth it. Its almost orchestral as the throttles close slowly or snap shut. End of the day a 4age 20v will never be a properly fast car so who cares if you loose a few hp. Running it on trumpets adds to the drama of the whole experience and is probably one if the main reason i still own the car after 8 years! Its been on and off the road several times but i know i will never sell it. |

Funnily enough the bonnet spacers will be creating a cold air feed at the back of the engine bay. If you could make something with the front half of the plenum and seal it to the firewall it would have a sort of ram air intake effect. Just look at how a lot of old muscle cars ran a raised centre in the bonnet

I've been toying with the idea of doing something like this for a while - create a raised central section to an FRP bonnet, then put a sealed plenum to the underside of the bonnet down to a custom plenum with trumpets and a pipercross (or similar) filter. Make use of the high pressure at the base of the windscreen to force air down into the intake filters, exactly like the old muscle cars that Mark was alluding to. It hasn't gone further than thoughts because I don't have the time, and my project list is already too long ![]() It's an idea that I find interesting all the same |

I cant remember who makes them but there is a carbon and glass fibre bonnet option available on RHD japan. The syle has been around for ages and ive seen picture of a fair few levins with them on but the venting purely focuses on removing hot air from just above the manifold. Im guessing the thought process with this one was that you will always see a greater improvement from removing the hot air than trying to compete with it. |
