Hi there. I'm a new member form Christchurch New Zealand.

I've just got myself an AE111 Levin BZ-G as a track toy.
Will still be road worthy as per race rules here for the class I'll be competing in.
It's called 2K Cup.
A car can't cost anymore than NZD$2000 and then we can only do safety improvements. No after market parts or performance parts allowed. Cars are to remain as standard. Only aftermarket parts allowed if original can't be sourced.

Anyway, more on the car I have......
It's a stock standard BZ-G that the previous owner ran up the back of another vehicle doing mainly panel damage to the front of the BZ-G.
I've managed to replace bonnet, lights, bumper, RF guard, and radiator to get it back to usable condition.
Complete new paint scheme to be done very soon I hope. Very hush hush at the moment though. Will be under wraps until the car gets it's big reveal at a race meet in the new year.
Got the safety items to install yet too - race harness, race seat and a roll cage as well. Doesn't need the roll cage for 2K Cup, but I'll be putting 1 in as I plan to do some other events that require it.

Will add some pics soon.

Here's a few pics of what I have

It's a McPherson strut model without LSD and it has the smaller front brakes as well.

I also have an AE92 FX-GT 16v that my wife uses as a daily driver.
My plans were to fit the larger twin pot brakes from a Levin to that and repower with the 20V as well. But I'll keep the BZ-G in 1 piece for now.

Nice one!

The AE111's have gone pretty well in the 2K cup up here, despite being in the next class up, so hopefully it'll go well for you!

You should be able to fit a factory LSD box and factory 2-pot brakes under the rules, right?

NI rules you could fit the LSD but SI rules no can do.

LSD will do it a lot better. 4 sticky tires with lightweight 15" wheels will do the trick

I didn't realise that they had stricter rules for the SI version of the series. I wonder if that will stick - I know with the NI series they had trouble because of version differences between the ages of cars - MR2s were a particular sticking point, something about the difference between early SW20s and late ones.

A pity that you won't have LSD - makes a big difference to these cars. But still awesome that you're going to get out there and have a crack at the series.

Can't wait to get it on the track....
Started to do some body work tonight. Got to get the panel and paint done soon so it will at least look semi decent.

Got the painting finally done. Wheels/tyres going on very soon, then it's just race decals to finish it off.

Niiice...

Loving that old-school 1980's Toyota racing IMSA-style livery!
It will look even better once it has race numbers on it.

All the best for the series. When's the first meet?

Nice spotting on the livery ;)

Round 5 is on 2 April at Levels Raceway in Timaru, and the final, round 6 is at Ruapuna Raceway Christchurch 16/17 April.
I'll have mine ready for the last round. I hope they'll be having a 1/2hr enduro like last year.

Sweet!
Best of luck with it in that case - could be fairly interesting if your shakedown for the car is a 2-hr enduro :o

Looking good!

I think it's a good idea to have the vinyls on there - should make the car more noticeable and will also make it photograph better. Plain cars don't photograph very well. I shot a couple of rounds of the 2k cup up here, and it's really hard to get any sense of occasion or drama into plain cars running around.

What's left to get sorted before the 16/17th?

Just a few small things really. Will try and get the suspension sorted before then too. Sits a bit high at the moment.
Time's tight though. I'm in the middle of a full engine rebuild and have to get it in that car by next Tuesday for it to be usable for next weekend.

What are you allowed to do to the suspension?
Lowering springs only?

GL with the rebuild

Yeah OEM spec shocks - nothing rebuildable or adjustable, and lowering springs. Ride height has to be 100mm min. Springs can't be race type - only upgraded street type and off the shelf items. Nothing custom made or specialised.

Hey Cambo nice build you have going there. I am in Chch too. Are you rebuilding the engine yourself or having a shop do it? thinking of having mine done and would be great if you can give an idea of costs? Cheers!

Not touching the motor unless absolutely necessary.
If I do need to do anything, I suppose I'd have to do it seeing as that's what I do as a trade. Plus I'm a bit OCD when it comes to who gets to touch my bits ;)
