Re McSweeney: I thought the US Great War helmets were steel pots, not stahlheims. They developed the damn thing first, after all.

They were steelpots. You are correct.

I don't think anything resembling the stahlheim was described in the series, the cover art of DTTE notwithstanding.

Very nice paintings (drawings?). I too hope he does more.

Oddly enough, that's very much how I envisioned Featherston, except for some weird reason I always pictured him wearing an all-white suit.

Nope. Almost every single time he's mentioned he's wearing a butternut military uniform, be it Confederate Army or Freedom Party Guards. The sole exception that I can think of is the few scenes when he's wearing a white shirt (with rolled-up sleeves; I can't picture the white shirt being the cotton undershirt that became popular later on) and butternut trousers.

Hmm?

Yep, I created this wonderful new character template for the Turtlewiki, image ready, and no images for so many important characters.

Incidentally that point popped up on AH.com earlier today.

In the very thread where I had discovered this guy's pictures, someone asked about a picture with Featherston's "favorite fashion accessory, the Big Ole Floppy Straw Hat."

I'm guessing one of our colleagues asked the question.

He's European, and I don't think we have too many of that type here. More likely he uses the TW as a resource and came across the line there.

I suppose so, but the TW never saw the ongoing weird conflict over that particular phrase.

It popped up in the article talk for Featherston.

As it stands, I would bet he did get it from the TW:

Quote:

The big ol' floppy straw hat is a favorite fashion accessory of Jake Featherston. He often wears it when traveling and when at his leisure. At such times, he is rarely seen without it. However, he does not wear it to the front in the Second Great War; there he practices the doctrine "Function Over Fashion" and wears a soldier's steel helmet.

Too bad that person didn't stay to contribute.

Or maybe he did and got sideways with SJ. Who knows.

:D Cus, what's with the Goldwater look? By the way, has anyone been following the Jericho series on NBC and the SciFi Channel? The writer is listed as Turtletaub. Is that our friend HT?

:D Cus, what's with the Goldwater look?

I was drunk while posting on an allied forum and decided to upload a Goldwater avatar. The conservative global moderator there approved, even though I had told him I did it out of drunken boredom over politics. He uploaded an avatar, then another poster did, and then another and another. I think at the height of the Goldwater Movement I had started, over a dozen people had Goldwater avatars. Sometimes it was hard to tell posters apart at a glance.

Anyway I thought it was time to spread the revolution, and uploaded the avatar here, too.

The guy (who, according to the Jericho wiki, is a producer) is named Jon, whereas HT kept Harry when writing as Turtletaub (I think).

Interestingly, I ran into a discussion on the Jericho boards where they were discussing HT's TL-191 series sparked by a flag avatar a poster uploaded resembling the Freedom Party banner. The guy said he was trying to form a political party called the Freedom Party, and then gets jumped by another poster pointing out that HT had the idea first and that the FP was just like the NSDAP.
